Default Losi aluminum hex width

Are the Losi aluminum hexes about the same width as the HR aluminum hexes? About 2mm wider than stock? THanks.

I just measured mine. Stock hexes are 5mm wide; Losi aluminum hexes are 7mm wide. According to the Hot Racing site, their's are 8mm wide.

I picked up the Losi aluminum hexes, they seem to help a little.

I run the HR hex's and found them to work a lot better than the stock ones. Plus they are a clamping type hex

I asked this question and was told the Hot Racing hexes are wider than the Losi hexes. They help a little, but they are a hassle. They would get stuck inside the hex on my stock wheels and pull off even though they're a clamping design. This happened no matter how much I tightened down the pinch bolt on the hexes.

To gain even more width and stability I eventually went to the wideners seen below. I like them, but at times the stock servo struggles to turn the wheels with the added leverage.

The link for them is http://www.tcscrawlers.com/2.2-Wheel...g-p-16233.html

The Losi hexes use a set screw rather than a pinch screw. Personally I think using a set screw here works better as the hex doesn't distort, as would happen when a pinch screw is tightened.

My Losi hexes work great. Aside from the extra width and strength, they retain the cross pins when you remove your wheels - no more risk of losing cross pins when you're in the field.

Good info here. Never thought about the pinch screw warping the hex. Makes sense. Guess I will be going with losi on that part.

Thanks everyone. I have never met a Hot Racing part that I liked so I would much rather go with the Losi design. I'll gladly give up the 1mm on each side.
