Castle Link allows you to set the voltage. I am getting ready to get one and seen in my castle link settings you can choose the BEC to modify.

This is how I wired mine up. I had mine set to 6v when I bought it from Holmes Hobbies. I figured if your going to use one, might as well get the most out of it. Wiring it up like this is nice since it will only send 6v to the servo and not the receiver.

I bought a 6" Y harness and cut it up and re-soldered it to make it plug and play with the receiver and servo.

bigbeave1 did you get my pm about the battery?

+1 I wired my BEC this way with a full size servo. Works like a charm!

You can do it either way. I personally perfer the castle way. Less work to do and there's really no difference. I've been running both my rigs this way for a while. And my 2.2 runs two servo's (dig). Set it at 6v and let it be

I presume it's fine just to dissconnect the power output from the ESC and then run the bec into the aux on the RX to power both the servo and RX? I have done it this way because the BEC in my ESC is fried

Cheers

What if you bought a 5.x volt one? Is there a way to make it a 6 volt?

they all come with that setting from Castle but with a Castle link you can change it to 6 or whatever you want really. From looking at my book on it i didnt see any stick programming you could do to change it. So either buy a Castle link or find a buddy with one or order one from Holmes and request it to be set at 6. Hope that helps you out.

Thats the Castle way to do it. You clip the red ESC wire and plug the BEC into the AUX or BATT port on the reciever. your golden with how you got it.

That's how I did it also. If you want to use castle link you need that wire intact.

Not really if yo clip the wire you just will have to hook it up to battery to connect it to the castle link. It just needs power and the battery gives it that. but either way is fine. I clipped mince since the pin was so tore up tryig to pull it. Hook the battery up once its connected to the castle link and im good to go for programming.
