| New 1.9 Rovers and Nova's Foams
So, I told Nova I'd give a little input on his foams since he sent me some single stagers w/ my last order... I ran full single stagers up front and trimmed (.25") Dual stagers in the rear of my mini which weighs 3lbs 3oz. Thats full weights in my DH's up front and 2 in each rear wheel. Had some of the guys at the comp say the rears were way to stiff... Well, pulled 2nd and was very happy on how the front pulled the rear around and the rear had just enough traction to help climb but not overpower and flip the rig over... The single stage might be just a tad soft for turning but all in all I think this setup worked well for me... Thanks Nova and D.W. |

I'm running single stages around, full in front and cut 1/2'' out in back. It been prefect for me. I run VP wheels fully loaded in the front and None in the back. I did swap out my rear springs to stock sliver springs and blues up front.

When you say "cut", are you cutting the width or height of the foam? What direction are you running the Rovers? Thanks! |

You ran the 4.25" dual stage foams in the 1.9 rovers in the rear? Any pics?

I just mounted my rovers last night with the foam they come with. I made some pvc rings to make the stock rims real beadlocks and that took up alot of the foams room, they feel better than stock but dont have anything else to compair them to. |

I just got my single stage foams in. He also sent me a set of super soft foams, anyone try these? These things are wide, about 2 1/4". So you guys are trimming the rears and running the whole thing in the front? I was tossing around the idea of running the soft up front and the super soft in the rear, what do you guys think? Can someone wiser than me dive into what trimming the foam does? I realize these nova's are really wide but I'm a bit lost when it comes to foam tuning and I don't get how trimming the width of the rears can help!

I run the Nova single stage foams uncut in the front and back with the VP wheels. The only difference is that I run the rear without a breather hole and the front has breathers. The front also has 3 slugs per wheel and the rear is empty. I like to run a firmer rear tire/foam setup cause I dont want it to grip as well as the front.

I understand the concept of less grip in the rear but what does cutting do?

| Okay, the quick and easy way to explain it is: The more foam you stuff in a tire the more compressed the foam is, ultimately making it firmer. So you trim the width on them to " soften them up ". If a tire is only 1.25" wide and 4" tall, putting a 2" wide 4" tall foam in it would make it firmer than installing a 1.5" wide 4" tall foam. I hope that all make sense to you.
