the stock motor is junk there are many quality motors for our 2.2's but for the mrc the options are few. 1.holmes 22t 2.holmes 33t 3.trinity 22t 4.trinity 33t 5.reedy 17t mod 6.reedy 19t mod 7.reedy 19t stump puller there are a few others I have recently found but they probably wont be around for long 8.fantom 15t 9.epic dont remember the wind 10. hpi micro 45t this one has low quality plastic endbell, but it ts a 45t if thats you poison. motors 1-4 and the epic all are based off of the same can/endbell I would say that for most people the 22-33 is best but for guys who drive hard and want the speed to launch the truck a 15-19 would be best but if I was gonna get a 22-33t I wound get it from holmes I would much rather support a fellow crawler and a person who has given much back but if you want speed the 17t reedy is a fair prices motor with gobs of speed and I forgot about the losi slider motor and the venom fireball I have heard guys speak well of those motors as well I think. Im using the HH Torquemaster mini 33T version and its great. Stock spur with a 12t pinion and wheel speed is faster than stock with lots more torque, very easy to control and very much worth the money, you can also adjust the timing very easily but from JRH it comes with 0 degrees timing so if you are flipping your tranny it wont matter. I'm using a Sidewinder Micro from CC and this combo doesnt seem to be putting too much strain on the drivetrain. |

the problem with advancing your timing advanced forwrd means retarded when in revers that makes your brushes arc and could cause discoloration/burnt spots on the comm/brushes and power lose. so if you dont plan to service your motor then run 0* |

"rock hard" thank you very much for the detailed information and also "Crawl Before Walking", ı think ı will go with the holmes 33t, just dont know if it makes lesser noise than the stock, but anyway must be sort of different cause of the lesser winding, I heard the stock motor is about 40t, so there will be a difference anyway. its really not nice to use the stock motor, it sounds as if the motor is under great strain with a weird noise, its not kind of easygoing feeling....so will have a try...thank you ____________________________ Savage x 4.1 Tamiya Hotshot Mini LST 2 (silver) Mini LST 2 (red) Wheely King based Scale Crawler (FJ40 Body) Losi MRC: Stock chassis, Jeep Wrangler Body (red), tekin fx-r Last edited by joeel; 03-09-2010 at 04:17 PM. |

dont worry about the noise to much I have 2 with moongoose systems and one with the holmes 33t still the 33t has some speed but not enough for me. I have found the drive train is noisy period all of them are noisy mostly where the pinion and spur meet especially if you have an aluminum spur and ai have also found that some of the ringand pinions arent very smooth dont let any of it worry you much but the 33t should do you well. |
