Default TC's Mini Moonbuggy

The EVOLUTION

Here's the run down:

T1E Mini Moonbuggy
Duratrax Vendetta Rear Shocks on Four corners
Yellow (medium) shocks all four corners spaced wide
30 weight shock oil
DNA Aluminum Snipers Drilled through rear, all four Vented
HB mini red dot Rovers Nova single stage up front, trimmed stock foams rear
Hitec HS7955TG
Fiber glass front axle servo/battery tray custom drilled for full servo
custom tilted caster angle up front
losi cvd axle shafts
stock knuckles drilled for zero ackerman
2 piece Aluminum Lockers front/rear, All aluminum tranny gears
Mongoose Brushless System, bought used (16.5T?)
2S tiny battery

I've been building this/rebuilding this truck for a long time now. I finally have something that is worth creating a build thread for.

So like many of you, I started with this right out of the box, It was shinny, new, scratch free (but not for long!)

Right away I did all of the free upgrades, used all of the AWESOME guides on here, and got something that used all of the stock components, it just performed much better. Put the battery on the front axle, cut the tray and reverse mounted the shock mounts, lowered/trimmed the body, etc.

Still wasn't enough for me, So I bought some bent lower link (#MRC07BU) and shocks (YR1004) and here's what I needed up with

Way too much flex. At that point not understanding the joys of nitro tube to limit shocks, I thought well hell, I'll just get a new chassis and I heard a ton about the miXer chassis! So here's what I came up with

I also managed to burn the crap out of the stock brushed motor so I went up to a mongoose brushless system. I also installed lockers front, center and rear.

Along the way I picked up some DNA snipers and Losi Rock bashers! heavy but a great comb.

I ran this chassis for a very long time, Long enough that every part of it was simply rattling apart, locktite didn't help much I simply needed new hardware. Around this time I went to my first comp. Clicking in the rear axle (thanks helhedded) that I thought was the spur was shredding the rear axle. I did terrible. . . score of 100 I knew I had to have something new.

SO I rebuilt the rear axle, new gears and while I was at it, drilled through the rear snipers (all of them were already vented at this point) and got ahold of a GC-3 chassis. It was/is AWESOME. Went together very nicely. The mongoose system fits perfectly! Bought some vendetta shocks and mounts, also a set of soft springs for the front, a mystery 2C battery, and some HB red dot rovers. I mounted the new battery behind the servo and just today I finally got to do some running. . .

All I can say is WOW! This thing crawls like a dream. Lines I never would have thought of before with any of my set ups this thing crawls and doesn't look back! I can't wait to comp with this new set up, I know it's going to make life very easy!

Here's the pics of the current set up!

Thanks to everyone for all of the help along the way and for being nice to a newb.

That thing is looking very capable now. I did like your use of Gorilla tape on your older setup. Got to love it. Good job.

I am just starting to modify MRC and can appreciate the constant improvements to make them better. Looks to be one hell of a finished product.

What size drill bit did you use to drill through the snipers?

Thanks! It's taken awhile to get to this point. Piece by piece. . . slow but worth it!

3/8'' of an inch its a great looking mod let alone the benefits of weight.

Did you have any issues mounting the motor?? Mine was hitting the trans case and couldn't get the motor screws started without a little Dremel work on the case. Seems okay now. The GC3 chassis is a nice piece of work. Can't wait to finish the lil turd up

If you are talking about the spur gear case, most of us just take it off. If you are in fact talking about the transmission case, there should be no contact. If you need any pics, let me know but there shouldn't be any transmission case contact.

MUCH MORE than this but some details are slightly wider front and rear stance and lower shocks placement spread. The biggest change is I'm going lightweight

No pics yet sorry. All I've been seeing is carbon fiber with these new MRC Pros so. . . . GC-3 in carbon fiber and lazer cut. Starting at 2mm. Getting it drawn up but I need to send it home to be cut out. Won't be finished until around Thanksgiving. I'll get pics up as soon as I can.

Default Mini Moonbuggy

Look what showed up in the mail this week Thanks Mike at T1E for putting out a great product!

While I'm getting the GC-3 drawn up and cut out, I thought I'd try the mini moonbuggy. This thing rocks! Heres the pics

I'll get the rest of the panels cut out and post up a finished painted buggy

A few updates. I went from the 645MG to the 7955TG

The stock chassis comes in at around 8.25 inches so I've spaced it out to the full 8.5 inches for comping

body panels on, now I'm going to put this thing on a diet wheels up first.

Heres the pics:

Flex shot
