|  Braze or weld?
I am looking into building my own tuber, and wondering do you guys braze or weld? If you weld what kind of welder? I was looking at a small cheap one from harbor freight (wire with no gas). Brazing sounds easier though.. I really rather build my own rather than buy. Buying everything makes me forget the essance of the hobby...

I braze and its easy but holding the pipe at an angle and using both hands to blaze is difficault with out any triangle magnets but some guys I've seen in build threads use tig welders which seems easier because the welding rod is inside the welder but unless you work at steel mill or a factory you probly dont have a tig welder  |

thanks I will try brazing first. Seems to be cheaper as well.

yup some map gas and the smallest brazing rod you can find

After staring at my broken mrc I think I will make a tuber based off the lexan body, like how the blue lines run on the body. A more realistic look I think.

Brazing is fun! I am working on a tube chassis desert truck right now and its going great! I picked up some 3/32 and 1/4 brake line for my built. I'm using oxy-acetaline torches with a very small tip and some 45% silver brazing compound rod. Its working great, just remember you MUST use flux. Good luck, enjoy |
