Default The doror

The donor MRC with a Dark Soul Chino chasses. I picked this rig up from ncgoose in the For Sale section. The rig was in really you shape.

I'll post more photos once I transplant the axles and tranny.

Great photos, good to see clear photos of a build - gives me ideas!
I really like your bent delrin links. Did you make them?

There are lots of nice wheels out there but the VP is King. VP pays great attention to detail in making their products. Having the ability to adjust the weight of the wheel is reason enough to buy them.

It would be really cool if VP would make adjustable offsets for the 1.9 wheels like they have for the 2.2s.

Nope they came with the kit.

I guess I should have pointed out what all comes in the kit from T1E.
  • Skid plate (the skid is milled out so the tranny sets as low as it can to help lower your GC)
  • Side plates
  • Cab
  • Cross members
  • Hardware (most all of it)
  • Upper and lower links (rears lowers are bent)
  • 4 link plates front and rear
  • Shock out board kit (spacers and bolts)
  • Spacers to mount the upper rear links on top of the 4 link plate
Basically everything you see in the first photo of this build.

Default Getting it together

Axles and tranny mounted.

Note the RC Bros steering link doesn't work with the current T1E front 4 link / servo mount. I have a mod in mind to work around this issue.

I didn't like the way the rear upper links mount to the top of the 4 link plate so I moved the links to the bottom of the plate. Seems to be okay once I get it on the rock I may switch them back just to see how it effects the handling.

Keeping an eye on this, I have a moonbuggy coming, so am interested to see how you work out the steering.

Default Servo

Okay, time for a little servo action.

The servo I picked is a Blue Bird BMS 705MG Low Profile.
Torque At 6.0V: 7.4kg/cm , 112 oz/in
Speed At 6.0V: 0.16sec / 60° at no load
Weight: 34g / 1.19oz
Dimensions: 42 x 21.5 x 22 mm / 1.65 x 0.85 x 0.87 inch

The first picture shows the BMS705GM next to a standard servo. Note the size difference and the weight is about half. I have never ran one of these before so it will be interesting to see how it performs and holds up. I'm sure it is better than the HS225 I was running.

It just seemed strange to mount the links on top and the links hit the end of the 4 link plate nearest the chassis. Could have been that I have the Losi shocks. I think T1E recommends running the Duratrax shocks off of a Vendetta that are a little shorter. For now I am just going to limit the Losis internally.

The top rear links need tobe on top, Put spacer's if you half to. If you got the right shocks the rear top links should be parallel with the ground. Trust me.

Thanks Greg, I need to order the right shocks. Once I do I will reinstall the links on top.

Default RC Bros steering link

RC Bros High Steer Link

As I stated before the RC Bros steering link will not work with the correct configuration of the front 4 link/servo mount.

I moved the link holds back and in just enough to clear the steering link. I made new links that were 1cm shorter and adjusted caster with a 3mm spacer.

This is all subject to change once I get it out on the rocks.

I better not here" Man what's wrong with my truck it does'nt handle as good as Greg's" . Im just going to say you should'nt of change the link geometry.

Also,I just dont understand why people want a BTA kit for there mini's??? The servo sticks out anyway. So instead of you hitting the tie rod(Whitch the tie rod acts like a ramp) you hit the sevo. I used 1/4 delrin because it flex'es alittle when i ram it into a rock that i want to get over. Look at my picture and look at your's witch one do you think has the smoothest aproach angle??
Im just try to help you have a great handling truck.

Gotta admit i'd go for a BTA setup if i could.

Problem i've had with having the steering linkages up front is, when they get hung up (on the steering linkage), when i steer it knocks the truck off line.

The BTA is out the way and also less likely to get damaged
