Default ol' gravy's minijuice

Well thanks to krawlfreak, I am finally building a minijuice. I have put aside my hatred and contempt for my previous mrc, and will give it another shot. Here's the goods...

Y Town Minijuice
Mamba Micro Pro
Crawler Mafia 17t
Futaba BLS351 servo
Futaba 604fs Rx
Hyperion 2s 320 lipos

Gonna slap all the necessary lockers and shafts in her and will run some Rovers on VP Little Harrys.

First up...some temporary links. Here are the eye-to-eye lengths I came up with for a little forward bias:

Front Upper 3 1/4
Front Lower 3 1/8
Rear Upper 3 5/8
Rear Lower 3 3/8

I will update as more parts come in.

You should order up some BWD wheels. They are much cheaper than brand V and come narrow with a nice and wide offset. And while your at it order his motor plate. Pure beef ( and you know how much I like beef ) that eliminates the flex from the stock motor plate when you put some real power to these cars.

So do the Vanquish slugs fit the BWD holes without modification? How do you have them secured so they don't fall out? I've been eyeballing those BWD wheels mostly because of the .5" width.

That would be a negative. The are used bullets filled with lead. The are held in with the ring from the front, and the ridge on the casing keeps them from pushing through.

I do like the width of the BWDs, and was thinking of narrowing the LHs. I'll pick up the motor plate for sure.

Still undecided on which knuckles to get. Felsenfest or the new rcbros?

Yeah I had the same thought, but with the cost of the LH, plus weights, plus rings, plus machine work, you could buy 2 sets of the BWD wheels ( maybe 2.5 sets). On a side note, I happen to have a set of brand V wheels I probably will not be using.

Krawl just got the felsenfest knuckles and they are pretty cool. But they run right up there with the brand V wheels as full blown Chavez Status items. I am just a poor boy from the hood.

Looking good so far Doug. I just got a Crawler Mafia 19T motor with a 12t pinion and its got plenty of speed and torque. It finished of the plastic transmission gears last Sunday at the NARCCA comp. I just ordered up a set of aluminum trans gears and should be ready for the PARC comp.

Well I decided on the BWD wheels but they are out of stock...

Should be getting some other parts in today. I also ordered the rcbros knuckles and bwd motor plate.

I was hoping to have it ready for this weekends comp, but it's not looking good.

Got started on the axles today. Slapped some lockers in these puppies and clocked the C's.

Also made my permanent links. They are 6-32 all-thread sleeved with 3/16 stainless. I think they came out pretty good.

New lengths
Front Upper 3 1/2
Front Lower 3 1/8
Rear Upper 3 7/8
Rear Lower 3 3/8

I built my shocks (losi aluminums) and mounted them using the McMaster outboard shock kit. I'll work on the tranny tomorrow. Still waiting on a few more things.

I rebuilt the tranny and installed the motor and driveline. BWD motor plate should be here next week. Got the rcbros knuckles in today, so I was able to get the steering done. They are a quality piece.

Tight fit

The first link I made went behind the servo horn, but I couldn't get full steering out of it. This one should work though...

Gotta love that caster.

I cant for the life of me figure out WHY it took me so long to even
consider how EASY it would be to clock the collars.

You have adjustment too.

The collars are offset,we always run them the same way.
But now that your clocked, you can flip them if you like and remove a touch of the caster if you want.

Rig is looking good. Who makes those Aluminum wheel hexes? Are they the same width as the mrc pro's? I'm considering machining some clocked c's so the axle mod isn't needed, but not sure as the mod looks so easy!

I agree, it's so simple. I am actually running them flipped to dial down the caster. It had a tad too much I think.

Thanks and nice work on the knuckles. The hexes are Losi, part number LOSB1461. Pretty sure they are the ones that come with the mrc pro.

those are the Losi after market hexes the ones that come on the Pro are 8mm wide plastic. CKRC makes a 8mm clamp on style the Losi's in the pict are 1/4" set screw type
