i would say so. i know lipo is the way to go but i was also looking in the hobbypartz dark soul 6 cell whick seems to be a decent battery for the price i think. and for 8 bucks you cant beat it, even if you have to change oen each run.

I like the lipos. They are small and powerful. Small is key in these tiny crawlers. I'm thinking a better ESC.

The sidewinder pro looks like a good ESC. There are guys here who run it.

I've had pretty good luck with batteries from Value Hobby. Real cheap and ship really quickly.

I have been running the Gforce lipos for a while now. I fried one, but that was because I came down on a rock with it on my XR's front axles.

I've been using Gens ace 800mha 20c 2S1P lipos from hobbypartz.com with my set ups. They are working well for me. With my Novak mongoose MRC the battery is lasting me more than 30 minutes. Not sure how long it will go. On my 370 venom brushed motor it does about 25 minutes. And with my Tacon 2040 3600kv crawler it is doing over 30 minutes like the Novak. Plenty of power from 2 cells with all these set ups. I've tried 3 cells. It just breaks stuff. Although the higher wheel speed and wheelies are neat to see.

Smiles, I'm unaware of any other cheap lipo protectors. Your best bet maybe to just roll the $10 toward a high quality ESC that has one built in. It would also save some space and weight if you just get a new ESC.

I try to stay away from this site because every time I visit I find a deal I can't pass up. I guess a roller for me as well.
