| My KILLER 1.9 Pin Tires...
So now that I don't really like any other comp tire other than pins...a few months ago I started experimenting with making some for my Mini Juice. Being that I race a TON of short course...I had a pretty large selection of tires to try out. I tried Proline Bow Ties & they were just OK. HPI ATTK's...a little stiff. PL Calibers...Just too many damn pins. So after about 10 different sets, the 2 that worked the best were the JConcepts Goosebumps... ...& my newest & now favorite, Proline Bow Fighters. On these I went with a 1.9 Rover sidewall facing out & a Flat Iron facing in & these things flat WORK. I had to make a custom foam set to find the happy medium between having some tire fold, sidewall stiffness & pin integrity but once that was settled...I couldn't be happier with these things. I may experiment later with some siping but as of right now...These tires are pretty much as good as they can be. J.D. |

| How tall are they
Did you size those down any or did you use the full diameter. What do you mean by flatirons on the inside, did you glue two sidewalls together then attatch them to the bowfighter, or did you simply mean that you have a flat iron on one side and a rover on the other. What compound are those bowfighters?

I cut away the entire sidewalls of the tires & replaced 1 side with a Flat Iron wall & the other with a Rover. I got some Rovers in a trade that had HUGE vent holes in em...HUGE. Like dude took a paper hole punch & went to work with it. So I'm using em as donors for some 4" Rovers & figured I'd give my pins a little sidewall lug. I was trying to say that the OUTSIDE facing sidewall is a Rover & the INSIDE facing wall is a Flat Iron...inside being closest to the rig if that helps. The compound is M3. The 1st set I tried were M4 & they were a little too soft for my liking...especially since these are for Nats & Vegas is just a TINY BIT warm this time of year. Quote:
Those pics of the vent holes didn't do em justice bro. Whoever you got those from went just a bit overboard huh? Thanks for the well wishes...gonna need it I'm sure. J.D. | ||

| Thanks bro. I "miter" my cuts so that A...i get a good, clean glueing surface & B...to give a more seamless look. They're still "cut-n-shuts" & if ya look at em in hand can see some glue but all in all, I'm digging how clean they are. On the rig they look like manufactured tires. I might have a little sumfin sumfin you can test for me in Veegass. Ya gotta wear Jerry's pleather dress for at least 1 course at nats tho. On 2nd thought...no you don't. I just threw up in my mouth a little thinking about that sight. You can just HAVE a set. |
