2. what kind of kV makes sense?

So far my Xcelorin is doing well. It's fast on 2S and strong ehough to rip up the gearbox in a bind (slipper set real tight).

I'm going to be trying a sensorless EZRUN 25A ESC and Tacon 3400kv in the next week or so after my pro and other goodies arrive, I'll report back on how it works. If it doesn't work I really didn't waste any money because I have several 1/18th scale cars that I can slap it in and save for a sensored system.

My setup cost me $38.

Btw, they have Gens Ace (great brand) 800mAh 2cell 20c batteries for under $5 at hobbypartz.com. I think they have 3cell versions that are basically the same size, just a little taller, for under $6

"GENS ACE LIPO 800mAh 20C 7.4V lipo battery"
http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-20c-800-2s1p.html

GENS ACE LIPO 800mAh 20C 11.1V lipo battery pack
http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-20c-800-3s1p.html

I think they're the perfect size for the MRC.

Good Luck!

It seams there are 2 systems:
Novak
  • what motor and pinion would you run?
  • brakes?
  • durability
  • power
Xcelorin
  • set with 18.5 T
  • brakes?
  • durability
  • power
did anyone try the hobbyking sensored ESC on a crawler?
Thanks for the feed back

you do not sound very convinced of brushless systems in crawlers.
may I ask why?

really? Thats odd since the system I suggested is a brushless system

Brushless is ok,I ran a moongoose for a full season and it served me well.

But there is no reason to make a decission on which brushless system to use any harder tha it is....if you have your heart set on brushless.......just get a mongoose crawler system

simple choice IMO

I like the Xcelorin system, easy programming (comes with a card and USB link for firmware downloads and more), very strong drag brake, good speed on 2S, 3S ready, compact case and it isn't a Novak.

The only problem may be the availability.

Losi does not support crawlers, I bought the MRC(only because it's the only 1.9 otpion) but they are turning their back on crawling.
Buy the novak they at least provide support for us.

I spoke to Rich Trujillo at RCX and according to him we didn't support 1.9 comp rigs which is why the Pro is being dropped. However, they plan to continue the mini rtr and micro. The sales of the Pro were not as expected so I guess you can say that we didn't support Losi.

Our club has tried to get a 1.9 comp going for over three years but it never happened.
