| Best tires for indoor?
Hello everyone. I'm new to crawling (not to r/c) and have searched and read a lot but have a quick question. I have an MRC pro and have ordered a bunch of aluminum, mainly for looks. I don't plan to run it outside at all. My son and I are getting 1:10 Losi's (an LCC and an LNC) for Christmas for outside. My question is, what are best tires for inside couch crawling? I already bought Proline Titus weighted wheels (not sure I like the big hole) and want a good tire BUT I don't want to impeed steering if I can help it. I tried flat irons but too big and lost turning radius. I read the Rovers are well liked but are they too wide and interfer with steering? What about chisels? Being inside a tight radius is best for me. I did weight the stockers and it really helped but was hoping for something a bit better. Any help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. |

The stock pro tires are great for couch crawling and anything more would be overkill. They are sticky enough to get caught up in the fabric of the couch or carpet and break parts. With stock tires my turning radius is as tight as possible considering the tires touch the lower links when turned all the way. I actually had to limit the servo end points a tad so they didn't rub so much. Quote:

You really won't need aftermarket tires for that but I assume you will ultimately get the itch to take it outside. Stock tires will do ok but if you ever decide to do some comps get some mini rovers. I have a few sets sitting around if you ever decide to upgrade.

We make some pretty difficult terrain just on the living room floor. We'll use back packs, boxes, anything we can find and I'm having some trouble with the tires. The added weight from lead stick (inside rim) really helped but I'm thinking red rovers will be on the short list, lol. I'll let ya know if I get ready Doc. Thanks! |
