Steel is gonna make that puppy pretty hebby up top... Aluminium or carbon fiber sheets is the way to go for a plate chassis imo.. I build lots of tubers out of brass and just solder them with a small torch type lighter.. Keep fabbing tho, ur skills will only improve. |

i ran it a little today and i did notice it was top heavy so im going to lower height of it and move the battery probably to the rear axle or mount it on the bottom of the radio plate and im going to go aluminum with it. how hard is it to cut carbon fiber sheets and does the tubers you build how hard is it to bend the brass?? and thank you for the encouragement to keep on building!!

Carbon fiber sheets u can cut with a dremel wheel or a hacksaw pretty easily. Put blue masking tape on the sheet to draw ur lines and keep the fraying down. Wear eye protection..... carbon splinters are SMALL and more annoying than fiberglass. The brass takes patience and a little know-how/ planning. Its not too hard to bend if the tubing diameter is 3/8 or under.. A spring can help keep the kinks down. |

Put ur old chassis back together and start easy with a set of 4-link plates and custom upper links. Those will have a bigger impact on handeling than just a chassis.. Practice those then make a chassis to fit them. Last edited by elsewhere; 01-08-2012 at 08:54 PM. |

Brass u can solder, brakeline is steel so welding or brazing is the way to go with that. Brass is lighter too. |
