Default axle clicking/gear skipping solution.

I could really you your experience in solving this problem.
I got a Losi Mrc in the for sale section a while back and now my axle gears are clicking/:: skipping when in a slight bind. I'm sure the gears are worn and I'm not sure what parts will resolve the situation, i don't want to keep replacing the plastic parts. So any help to get the stronger axle gears to eliminate the clicking/ skipping would really help me out ALOT.
Thanks for your help.

Most likely the lockers in the rears. That's what the axles pop into. It happened to mine. Bought the losi metal locker kit and solved the problem

When you replace the diff gears, shim them with the Fast Eddy wraith shims. I started a thread a while back in this section on exactly how to do this.

I'm with Jeremy, shim ur ring over, I have even put a thin shim behind my pinion/ out drive to take in an out slop out of it. This is if its coming from ur axles..

For my tranny, I have found, after a couple ruined HR tranny sets, that the HR idler gear with the stock plastic diff gear an metal locker works best for my trannies..

If ur not sure where its coming from, drop a drive shaft an try an bind it by hand an get it to pop.. if not that one, drop the other one an repeat..

I have shimmed my f/r axles to the max, just below resistance. It's really getting on my last nerve when I comp with it and get it in a slight bind the rig starts clicking with a little throttle.
I'm sure I need new ring and pinion, just not sure which ones to get.
This is the info I'm looking for. The few sets I've found have metal ring and pinion but the other gears are white plastic. What is the alternative?
Thank you.

It's also a good idea to use longer bolts when re-assembling your axle housings after shimming. This way you can put nuts on them so that the 2 halves are held firmly together, preventing any separation of the halves which would allow the gears to move out of alignment and skip.

This is the part number you want to replace the white plastic gears:
LOSB1433. It is listed as discontinued, but can probably still be found on eBay or elsewhere.

Mrc25x08 is what I think you maybe looking for... It replaces the diff spool, the plastic parts... I believe.. its how it reads on ebay an looks like what mine does.. didn't Rcbros make a aluminum diff spool that the ring screwed to as well?

That's the Hot Racing aluminum locker. It's higher priced than the Losi steel locker that I listed above. Personally, I prefer steel for durability, but this is a good option if the steel ones can't be found (there are still some on eBay as of last night). The RcBro locker hasn't been made for quite a while now.

Like this:

pops is right...the axles tend to flex, and can be a root cause.

You can use a longer 2mm bolt....and then use the tina ass locking nut from your stock drive shafts ( only reason I keep em around is for the locknuts )

also, sometime when shimming, its the pinion that needs to be shimmed to the front or back..

sometimes its the ring gear that needs to be shimmed to the left or right.

and some time, you need a little bit of both.

I know I have found new ring/pinion sets suck.
I use a dremmel with a wire and polish em up just a touch.

I also don't use any grease for test fit...PIA....wait till yu got shimmed good and then grease.

Thanks.. I run them in the front an the nuts I'm bout to mention on the rear..

As far as the tiny lock nuts.. if you don't have stock drive shafts, you might have to buy a set
To get them? I have 4 I could spare that are non lock washer nuts, its what's on my mini juice an haven had any issues.. pm me ur addy if so.. I only run 2 at opposite corners, one top, one bottom..
