Default Motor Advice

I'm not 100% certain, but I think the motor in my son's Slick Rock may be going bad. There's some nasty whining noise going on that I originally thought might have been from the trans. Pulled it apart over the weekend, replaced all the bearings, and regreased with marine grease. Ran it for maybe 5 minutes outside on some broken up bricks & rocks I have and it seemed to do okay, but when we got it back inside, the loud whining started. Seems to be coming from the motor/trans assembly or at least that's my theory after putting my ear up to the skid and listening.

Looking to replace the stock Dynamite 380 60T motor with something better but not looking to break the bank doing it since it's my 5 year old son's rig and he loves using it in water. Considering the Promax Cobalt motors (likely 26T), Brood Frenzy 22T, and Xtreme 380 Heli motor. Obvoius price range for those three is no more than aboug $25. Not looking to change out the ESC just yet, so that's off the table.

So assuming the stock Dynamite ESC will be used, which motor would you guys recommend and why?

For the money I think that the Xtreme 380 Heli motor is the best motor you can buy. (If you can find them).

the dynamite motor you have is a throw away so i would pitch it and buy a rebuildable motor, there are tons of choices out there! personally i would stick with a reputable motor that is still in your price range! holmes hobbies has a brushed sport rebuildable motor for about 30 bucks, and theres novac, team brood and the list goes on! check around on the forum a bit, holmes hobbies (john r holmes) has really good info on motors!

I didn't see a mini-sized motor on the HH site. I know they used to make a Torquemaster Mini, but I don't think it's still in production. I could be wrong, though.

The Xtreme 380X Heli motor has been discontinued and Xtreme got none in stock anymore (I have asked). But they got another motor (380BL) that looks identical but seems to be for 3s instead of 2s as the old 380X. I have ordered a couple of the 380BL to try them out.

Promax cobalts. Haven't used them but I've heard good things about them.

I think 89redranger used those for a good while before jumping on the Xtreme 380 bandwagon. Just don't remember if 26T or 45T. I think, though, between that and the Frenzy, I probably can't go wrong either way.

I had a brood frenzy and burnt it up. That's when I switched to brushless and changed the spur and pinion to a 11/66. I might get a cobalt just to have a back up and see if they're any good.
