| Where To Get Rocks???
I live down in South Louisiana and as I am sure most of you know, there are no rocks naturally down here. Plenty of water, but no real rocks to crawl on. I have experimented with making my own and that is great but I would really like to get some real rocks to crawl on. The wife gave the okay for me to build a rock garden/crawling area in the yard. Is there anywhere I can pick up a couple pounds of decent sized rocks ? (prefer free ones but will pay if the price is right). I have a truck and don't mind driving a few hours, so anywhere in TX, LA, AR, MS would work. Thanks!!! |

Building a rock garden myself. I'm collecting from places where I wheel my 1:1. Landowner's permission, etc. Over the past couple weeks, I have collected a few tons of rock from various locations. This past weekend, I came back home with a load of rock from where I grew up in East Texas. The weekend before, I collected some rock from Sicily Island, LA, over on the eastern side of the state. Also spent $75 at a local yard, bought some flagstone of various types to build steep climbs. Paid .17/pound. I'll bring some home from OK, and AR, once I make it back up there. You probably have some rock over near you or north of Orange. Look for for drainage on/near hillsides, that's where it will be uncovered. Make sure it's ok you take it. Most landowners look at that thing as only slightly different from dumping on their land. Good luck! |
