Default Gate Judging

the gate debate

I suggest everyone view this thread. I can think of a couple instances from the last come where our group penalized, when in fact no penalty should have been called.

All 3 were a gate in my mind. The gate should be like a becon strait up. You cross the becon you get the gate.

At the last comp the only one that I did not agree on was on course 2, the gate under the log bridge. It was there to keep you on the bridge and not hang a tire off.

I am used to Werock.

The problem with the "beacon" method is your using an imaginary line, and its very easy for two people to see two different lines. You either touched it or you didnt is hard enough to keep track of sometimes.

In those 3 vid's the truckes rolled completly over the gates. Not alot of judgement to call there.

It can be made simple. Cant touch gates, and all four must go through the gates.

Where it becomes difficult is when a rig tummbles/falls through a gate.

Actually it's a little gray area. I have seen several in both Werock and RCrock have a tire leaning over a cone but not touching it and it not be a gate. I have also seen guys roll over a gate and never touch the cone but get called on it. It all depends on who is calling it. Me personally if I am calling it, as long as you don't touch the cone your ok.

I would like to see it as no touch, no gate also so their is no grey area. Like Potter said 4 tires through.

If you roll across the gate without touching. You must find a way to go through correctly or you get no progression for that gate and you carry on.
