Default SCX Mud Truck Monster Build PIX FIXED

]Pictures are fighting me...

Here is the Flickr Album:

This was extremely fun to build. I have been gathering parts for a while, and was able to finish it up today.

I started out with this that I picked up in the Classifieds hrere at RCC. Nice SCX chassis with aluminum shock mounts and a "Mud Truck" Lift kit. Came with an Axial speed control, SCX transmission, 35T motor, what look to be Bomber Axles, aluminum links with Revo ends, SSD Steering links, and a RTR Tactic Servo.

I have always liked the Proline Pitbull body. Found this one in the local Hobbytown Clearance for $13.00 over a year ago. It is for an Associated RC10T B4.2 I was not sure what I was going to do with it, but I knew I would figure something out.

Initially I was thinking this would be a big 2.2 rig. I picked up some Rock Beasts and some cheap 2.2 wheels. (These are under $3.00 right now on Tower. In the clearance section, they go to an Arrma 1/10 something.)

I had the sticker kit from this body laying around, which gave me the paint idea:

At this point I threw the JConcepts wheels and tires on the rig... and fell in love. The shocks matched up better with the wheel wells with the body on backwards.

The frame I had was like new. So I bought another one and set about running it backwards. This shows what I cut off of the front and the back to make it the right length

A front bumper and rear body mount were next. None of the Axial bumpers I had would fit this tiny body, so I cut up one for a Traxxas Stampede 4x4 and mounted it to a flat cross member.

The rear "Shock Towers" on the body required that I fab something to keep the rake the way I wanted. I made a platrform and wend the Velcro Route to mount the body

The Chassis came with an XL5 and a 35T Axial Motor. I wanted to go a little faster, so I stuck in an HPI 20T unit. Going to stay brushed to try to limit carnage on the stock drivetrain.

I run Spektrum Tx/RX. I had this waterproof receiver box in my parts pile, fit it up with the XL5 between the front shock towers on a plastic plate that I made.

For the battery, I wanted it in the middle of the chassis. So I fabbed a piece that goes between the frame rails out of plastic, then screwed the battery plate to it.

Those are Savage Shocks, with about 20mm of travel limit in them, putting them at about 140mm eye to eye. They pretty much suck, so I will be hunting something else... Probably in the 120mm range.

Now for some more pictures.
