Hi mate. I’ve just bought a Smt10 pro mod truck running this combo. Also came without a sensor cable. Any reason you’re not running a sensor cable?

Because the SW3 esc is sensorless.

I have Axial Vanguard AE-3 esc and the Vanguard 2900kv motor on 3s in my SCX10 lifted mud truck. 14t pinion.. I think... Seems to run very well, not too hot.
But I have no experience with this motor combo or with mud/monster trucks... does this setup sound okay?

that is due to this particular ESC not having a sensor port...

What are you gents running for gearing? I have a Hobbywing 4000kv long can kicking around that I might try if I could gear it right.

anyone have any luck using a hobbyking setup? I've had good luck with their stuff before and the price is good. I was thinking about this motor/esc combo: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-...html?wrh_pdp=2

any opinions? I'll be running smt10 chassis, ar60 axles, and j-concept firestorm tires.

I like HobbyKing stuff, but I wouldn't recommend that system.

If you want an inexpensive system I'd check out the two Kinexsis systems below. They are back by the best customer service in the industry since it's a Horizon Hobby brand.

It'll be hard to beat an ESC and 3000kv or 4000kv motor for $75.

If someone wanted a brushless system that was similar in power to a stock brushed system, but providing the expected durability of brushless, then I would recommend this budget SkyRC Leopard 60a/3930kv system. I had it in a Traxxas Rustler for awhile, and thought I’d try it in the Max-D roller I purchased last December. Apart from being just a little underwhelming, it’s never been a problem. My understanding is that the motor is actually a 380 with big cooling fins. Hasn’t overheated once.

those Kinexis look pretty decent. I'm going to be making a big order from amainhobbies soon and they carry them too so I might just bundle it all and get a bigger discount code. thanks!

Does anyone have any opinion about a 3000kv vs 4000kv? I'm probably going to run the slipper on the looser side to prolong the life of drivetrain parts anyways. I figure torque is going to be more important than top end speed on a monster truck so wouldn't the 3000kv be better for that?

Did you end up getting one of the Kinexis combos? Would you recommend it?

I got it but the project has been put on hold due to a lack of funds while I wait for paypal to release some money to me. I briefly had the system in an axial bomber and it worked well then. I'll update once I finally get this project together. I estimate 2-3 weeks.

Mine's not built yet, but I have a HW Max 8 ESC that I plan to pair with a HW 3660SL 4000kv motor on 3s with the stock 16t pinion gear.
