Default Die Cast Bodies

Anyone using a die cast model? if so, how do they perform?

Im wondering if the weight is a huge issue and raising the COG makes it tip all the time...

looking to get this model and i dont want to be disappointed...

want to turn it into something like this:

Thanks

I'm using a metal body for this one.....

And its almost twice as heavy as my Courier. It does OK, but a plastic body would perform way better. I had to use Blade leaves to support the weight of it and it still sags a little.

Seriously we all spend a great deal of time to get our COG as low as possible for good performance so I just can't see a diecast body having any benefit that would enhance your performance?

Scale bodies dont ever enhance performance....

I cant find a plastic landrover D90 model anywhere, which is what im looking for, so I was wondering what other peoples experiences are with die cast to see if I wanted to purchase this one or keep trying to find a plastic one.

Im not trying to get "good performance" by using a die cast body....

I've been thinking about experimenting with die-cast too..The Maisto Dirt Riders series is all scalers..if you dont use the body, you can still use all the gear (roof-rack, light bar,etc)..the tires on the hummer versions are only about 1mm wider in diam than the McRC wheels, and while they are for sure crap performers, they sure look purty..

I'm sure you could lose a lot of weight by "routing" out a couple mm of material from the interior with a dremel..this would also make it weaker (read: SWEET DENTS!)

Well if the body is too heavy can't you just counter that by adding more weight to the chassis to make it heavier?
