Default Thinking about a scaler build

So I keep seeing these 1/20 scale plastic jeep zjs on eBay. Well I just so happen to love zjs. And I'm really thinking about building a scaler off my buddies zj that he built. Will attach a pic of it. I have seen a few guys that built there own frame out of brass pieces. This seems like it would be something fun to do after I get both of my losi crawlers built

Should I buy a losi micro to use the drive train out of?

The losi trekker will fit those jeep bodies just fine

Yeah I agree on using the trail trekker for the drive train.

What about the red cat sumo? They are half the price of a trail trekker.

They seem half way decent. Iv seen a few builds with them. I'm also thinking about getting the redcat rs10xt. For 150$ they don't seem to bad. And have decent reviews on them.

It really depends on what you want to use it for. The losi micro has worm gears so it doesnt like much speed. The overall quality is better on the losi. The redcat has ring and pinion gears and can handle going faster. Its really about what you want to do with it. If you end up building the zj be sure to post up pics. Im a big zj fan as well here is my 1:1 trail rig

Its not the best pic but it has a home made 6 inch lift and 33inch bfgs. Lots of fun and tons of work to get it to where its at now lol

my 1/20 zj, you have to extend the links and shocks to fit right, I also cut out a good bit of the interior to have it sit low enough

Well. I'm finally starting this build. Just ordered the body. Went and took some pictures of the jeep. Me and him talked about this last year but I never got around to doing it. He was killed in a car accident the day after thanksgiving. So now it's more then just something cool to do. It's my own little memorial now.
