Default My experience in the building the Orlandoo Hunter 1/35 F-150

I received the micro F-150 last week, and I must say, this is a very nice kit! Almost hard to believe I got it and all the running gear (except the receiver) for under $100. All the instructions are in Chinese, but the pics are so good in the manual, it doesn't matter. The only issue I am having, is that some of the bearings so far are extremely tight. I used a small bolt and my bench vise to slowly press them into the axle components. Also, I haven't used a factory allen wrench in years and I'm afraid this supplied one will wear out before the kit is done!

As nice any kit I have bought.

The start of a diff....

Almost done.

Did I mention how small these things are? 1/35th vs. 1/10th scale.

Just a great manual.

Gotta be organized!

Don't drop anything either! It took me ten minutes, a flashlight, and a magnetic retriever tool to get a ball stud back! Ten of these could fit on your fingernail!

Got the links all built. Pretty much about the size of matchsticks when they're done. Such a nice kit! Everything really goes together like clockwork.

Just had to put them next to a standard RC wrench to show the minuscule size.

Got the motor in there along with the gearset, too. Had trouble getting one of the gears on a shaft. I just opened my mini vise enough to let it sit flush and gave some gentle taps with a tack hammer. Always a gentle hand with this build. It's always on my mind not to force anything too much, since everything is so tiny. I was contemplating getting the upgraded brass gears and metal driveshafts too, but I don't think it is necessary just yet. We'll see if anything breaks....

Also put the cover on.

I also assembled the shocks. Pretty much exactly like the Micro T shocks. Wonder how the HR ones would be on here?

Once the sun is up (and I'm outta bed) I'll prime and paint the body. Not sure what color I'll go with. I do like a burnt orange and black combo, so I may have to hit the hobby shop first. Not sure what colors I have on hand.

Love it! Have the kit, motor, EEC and servo set sitting on my desk, just waiting for some time to get it together. Did open it up and poke around - was very impressed by the overall quality of the kit. Wheels tires and foams are just fantastic!

Going to live vicariously though your build in the meantime....

I found in my stash primer, Testors racing red, and some gloss clear. Got my honey-do list done, and had some time before the sun set to get some painting done. All the cans were used and I crossed my fingers that I had enough to get it done. Whew. Just barely. I used the last squirt of primer as I was satisfied the tailgate (which in my haste, I almost forgot about) was done. Then, I moved on to the red. Not sure what was going on, but that can is jacked up. I realized as I was spraying that it was getting all over my hand. I'm no rookie; I've probably painted a hundred bodies using every brand and type of paint. What a mess! At least it didn't get on my clothes (that's what she said!) Anyways, the spray quality was less than ideal, but I pressed on and it turned out ok. Luckily, I also had some gloss clear, too. This seemed to help the finish and look of it a lot. I know I should be wet sanding, yadda yadda, but I rarely do all that for an RC that is gonna get beat on. Wow. I'm boring myself with all this yammering on! Here's some pics....

Ready to go.

Had all the other body parts started and realized the poor tailgate was in the bag on my workbench!

Never had shit like that happen before!! Probably will get cancer from all the chemicals I scrubbed my hands with! It was already on me; why stop before I was done!?!

Shoulda came running and screaming into the house! My wife would have pissed herself! LOL!!

All in all, it didn't turn out too bad. Gonna do up the trim and interior with some brushed on Tamiya black. No work tonight either, so there will be some late updates. Probably be up until 4am or so. 2nd shift isn't all bad.

Got a lot done tonight! We have a roller! I spent most of this session meticulously painting all the trim with a tiny brush. The exterior trim, I did in gloss black, the underside, bed liner, & fender flares were done in flat.

Got a bit hasty there! How about some pics!

I also got the axles in place and mounted the shocks as well. While I was at it, I put in the driveshafts. Man, do they fit tightly on the tranny outputs! One end I had to remove some plastic to get it to slip on. I was pressing so hard, I thought something might break, so I gave it a little help.

I also built some wheels. Nothing permanent yet, I left the foams out for a little more traction. The tires are softer than I was expecting for a Chinese product. They should hook up well! I may add some bb's to the fronts after I run it to see what I want to do for sure.

Again, teeny tiny even compared to Losi micros.

We have a roller!

Got the bed secured.

While I was at it, I threw the cab on there to see how it would look. Nice! Not permanent yet; lots to do inside the cab yet. Plenty of room for electronics in there.

And, of course, some poser shots. This thing is going to be fun on the micro course!!

That's it for tonight. Gotta work from 4pm to 1am tomorrow. Should get some wrenching in after that. I should be looking at my eyelids right now!

Here ya go...

http://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/262190779371

I got mine from a China seller for a bit cheaper. After reading some posts on here, though, some guys are waiting a month to get them from overseas. I got pretty lucky and got mine in just over a weeks' time.

This company

http://m.banggood.com/OH35P01-KIT-As...-p-967337.html

has a lot of upgrades for it too. Brass gears, metal axles, and metal driveshafts are available plus different tires and motors, too! I'm almost disappointed that the build is almost over it was so good! Just gotta get the electronics sorted out. Tonight, I glued on the wipers and mirrors and painted some odds and ends.
I may just end up getting another to try a different body. I already have a 1/35th scale WWII Jeep. Hmmm....

Oh, it wouldn't be easy. Not a matter of just slapping it on there. Lots of modifications would be necessary. The Datsun would be an easier job, for sure. I'm not even done with this build yet. I'll play with it like this for awhile before tearing it apart. It'll be on here when I do it.

I decided to keep pushing, and I managed to get all the wiring done. There is a lot to stuff under this tiny little cab!i pretty much just made sure everything worked when I plugged in the tiny 2s lipo. I stuffed it all in there and snapped on the cab. Going to need some clean up in the wiring department, but at least it all works. Not quite sure it I did it the way I was supposed to, but I just cut the lead off the servo, soldered a normal lead on there and plugged it into my micro Spektrum receiver. I soldered leads onto the LED's and soldered those directly to the board. I bound it to my DX4R Pro, and I was off and running!! It's not going to win any comps, but the motor never stalled, and the teeny servo seems to have a decent amount of torque for the lil' F-150. I wish it had a ladder frame and a center tranny like the Losi micro does, as it would make it easier to modify into a custom rig. I'm sure I'll give it a go down the road. Now I just have to tidy up the wiring tomorrow and really run it!

Wires. Wires everywhere!!

Finally got it all stuffed in the and took the Raptor for a walk.

The little headlights are pretty bright!

Also on tomorrow's agenda - workbench cleanup!! Hogmess!!

Very nice build thread. I am at the stage of attaching the axels to chassis but the long links are way to long
Although I stupidly couldn't resist the bling and have fitted the metal axle set I can't see that the geometry would be any different over stock. They are about 5mm too long and I'm all out of thread! Out of interest are yours 33mm as per manual?
Had a peak at the sound unit and light set I bought. Saw that led bulbs that need Wiring from scratch and put them back in packets for now!
