Many thanks to Sam for letting me buy the first chassis in the UK! Received the package yesterday and have spent the morning putting it all together - nice and simple to put together, (following the above pictures as there are no instructions) but I have built the 1/18th chassis and a few of the Orlandoo F-150's so it's not the first time! Everything is nicely bagged But a little bit of damage through the postal system (nothing that can't be fixed!) The transfer case is direct attached to the gearbox'd motor, unlike the 1/18th chassis And the shocks now have (quite firm) internal springs The resin body is nicely detailed if a little 'wonky' - probably just like the 1:1!! The chassis was easy to put together and is really sturdy The axles have had a little upgrade to the front UJ's as they now resemble larger versions of the 1/35th Orlandoo upgraded metal axles Here's a few comparison shots next to my 1/18th chassis (also bought from Sam) And compared to a Meng 1/24th Toyota that's been built up on a 1/35th Orlandoo plastic chassis and axles And a few on her own (mended the crack too)! Really happy with the beast and will work out the details after holidays! |

Thought you might be first out of the blocks Jimbo Truck looks great - any idea which way you're going with it? I like the green gritter in Sangyue's first post. I'm sorely tempted but way too many projects going on already...

Cheers Sparks - I couldn't pass it up! Thinking along the same lines... Need to get the springs bedded in! (And the steering sorted...) (Electrics fitted) (Paint) |

Finished the electrics and servo placement with a couple of shaped brass 'L' beams for the TowerPro MG90S servo, Castle Creations 1/18th Sidewinder Miro and Spektrum SR-410 Rx. Also put my Hot Racing shocks on for a bit more ride height/tune-ability with springs and just waiting on a set of the new RC4WD Scrambler tyres to arrive in the UK... Will make a battery tray above the rear axle (needs some weight for the springs) and should have space for a full interior too - if only I could decide what to do with the load space! |

Looks great, Jimbo! Did you use RC4wd micro rod ends on your Hot Racing shocks? Looks good and probably provides a bit more freedom of movement I would assume....

There's nothing wrong with the stock shocks, except I didn't have any springs to tune them and I already had the HR shocks in my box!

This chassis has tons of potential for bodies.

After a bit of a wait for the RC4WD Scrambler tyres to arrive in the UK, I've finally been able to make a decision on the direction this is going in! Made a rear Styrene battery tray which fits a 3S 500mAh easily and keeps the weight down low Decided that my fleet required a fuel tanker (and been playing around on Spintires too) so made a start on the tank and made it so the whole lot flips up to change the battery. Going to use a couple of magnets to keep it shut on the trail and will put a spare tyre between the cab and tank... lots to be getting on with, but this truck just goes anywhere - the tyres are so sticky and 3S gives it a real kick when required! |

Looking really good! I love how beefy those tires are, do they fit on those stock rims?

Bit more done over the last few days - made a start on the interior, sorted the magnet for the fuel tank fixing along with a spare wheel carrier and made a Tic Tac store for the trail! |

^^Jimbo, kind of a dumb question, but ive only owned worm gear crawlers. Does it keep rolling when you release the throttle or do you have a esc that has auto brake?

The motor on this is geared so would hold itself, but I also use a Castle Creations 1/18th Sidewinder Micro which has a really good drag brake too!

Not quite got there on the windscreen and still waiting for the LED's to turn up. Did get the headlight lenses installed and a lick of paint on - used a rusty scouring pad to add some patina... Thinking that the fuel tank would look best in (rusty) white rather than blue like the cab - thoughts?! |
