Default I've Been AMBUSHED!

I've been Ambushed! Killing me, like being a kid again. Can't leave well enough alone! So I saw this '53 Chevy panel truck - AMT model, it's 1:25 scale but IMO, it's a bit small, but has that cool "Grave Digger" vibe. So many choices, now I am not sure which way to build the replacement body. The '78 Chevy Truggy route or the '53 Chevy. I ground a bit from it out of the box, opened the wheel wells, trimmed a bit of the inner wheel wells etc, it fits better, but hey I am open to suggestions. Removed the front bumper, may go tube instead. Awesome little truck!

Began playing around with a front bumper concept, may add a stinger, bonus is a few more oz. over the stock unit given the bumpers brass, tin and solder content. Tiny truck, tiny bumper, fat fingers make this a real challenge! Will devise something for the rear tomorrow.

Ambush got a matching rear bumper and some primer after sanding off the mold lines.

Thanks Shape_Shifter and Natedog! Any self respecting mini crawler has to have a set of rock sliders! Plus it sits so high it needed a step so you can jump into the Ambush!

It's official - I've been taken over by the Micro Crawler bug! The Ambush got a new set of Gear Head aluminum wheels and a super sticky set of RC4WD Rok Lox Micro Comp tires with the advanced X3 compound from #RPPHobby. Added the blower, cut the hood and mocked up a scoop for the blower, not sure if its staying yet.

Thank you, Gear Head awesomeness! I need some ideas for a lug nut though, the holes are holes! Was thinking pin heads and some superglue. Can't leave them open.

That's going to look great when you get it finished. Just an FYI you body is a sedan delivery not a panel truck. The sedan delivery was built on a car chassis, generally a station wagon with no windows. A panel truck was on a truck frame and driveline sharing sheet metal parts with the 3100 series truck. Most Grave Diggers were panels but I think there were some that were done with the sedan delivery.

No matter still a nice looking rig.

So, its Michigan, 73° yesterday, snow and 33° today! So, there was only one accessory that I felt would fit best with the #prolineambush - and its not a snowplow! That's surf boards of course! What else....oh and got to detailing the interior bits, man those are some tiny panels. Added some lighting as well. So now the Ambush will be hitting the beach and scoping out some waves dude! After paint of course.

Thanks All!

Well, I couldn't resist, I had this vision for a paint scheme and just had to see if it would work. Painted the sliders and bumpers, powered the LED's from the ESC/Receiver ACC port and got rid of the temporary 9v battery!

Thanks Ernie, these are a blast! Just having so many 1:25 scale static models available to play with is just a ton of fun!

I built LOTS of model cars when I was young ..... none of them were ever THAT cool.
Makes me want to try one.
