Default 1/20 Nissan Hardbody

I bought these parts so long ago, then got interested in other projects.
Chassis is Fungi's leaf spring chassis (http://lynxmicrotech.com/leaf-spring-chassis/).

Dusty.

Put this together for another project and then changed directions with it. Case is shaved enough for 13/59 gearing.

Tight fit!

Great battery for this chassis!

So this is as low as the body would sit- the chassis rails are sitting on the bottom of the bed.

Not low enough if it's going to look like my old pickup:

Time for a truck bed-ectomy.

There, that tape should hold it.

Should look about like this. Better than frame rails sticking through the bed like some kind of low rider. I wont be able to haul as much cargo but the trucks getting kind of old so it's alright.

Can drop it down about as low as I want now. My truck has dark windows so I'm not too worried about a 100% complete interior, but I should be able to trim the seat bottoms and make it look pretty decent.

Cool project. I recognize that Vdub, too.

Made new lower links out of 3mm titanium rod. Turned the ends down to 2mm and ran them through a die.

Going to open up the wheel wells a hair and lower it more.

Are you on TDiclub? Only reason I ask is because you refer to the bed mod as an "ectomy." Thats the only forum ive read that in, and ofcourse I see the MK4golf.

I think it looks really great. Love that you are scaling it to look like your driver 1:1.
Very nice, and loving the mods so far.

Thanks! I am, same name on there and vwvortex, but I mostly read and lurk on the car forums. I think someone called an exhaust mod a "mufflerectomy" or maybe it was "muff-ectomy"

Working on a little drifter to match my car too, but that project has been collecting dust for a while now.

Started on a crappy camper top. The top is aluminum, so it'll dent very easily just like the real one! I'm planning to scrape a lot of paint off the top to match the rattle can job on the 1:1 camper.

Getting there

Trimmed the body more to get it as low on the chassis as possible. The tops of the fender wells are almost level with the top of the bed now, but it will be under a camper top so who cares. Need to glue the bed back in.

I'll make a cover for the spur and hack the seats up to fit, but the windows are tinted so once again, no big deal that I've got a big gear sticking up.

Robbed the sunroof glass from a 1/24 Toyota kit.

Need to trim back the fender arches so it doesn't rub, mount the body and paint!

Got the fenders trimmed back so it won't rub being low.
Working on every part of the model.

Gluing the bed back in higher up, filling some on the tailgate to match my year truck, making a new center for the interior tub, and cutting the sunroof hole.

Sunroof installed!

Got the ends made for the camper, and painted it.

I need to weather the hell out of the camper now and tint some windows for it. I'll probably add some trim pieces too.

Yep, gutting the muffler, mufflerectomy and venting the fuel tank on the mk4 tdi is ventectomy. Love it. I am "ItAintRodKnock" on tdiC, not on vortex at all. Pics of my white, 4 door lifted golf on there. very cool drift project too. Ill have to look into that Golf body.
Amazing how small the internet makes the world seem.lol

Great looking Nissan. Keep it uph again i love how you have the 1:1 for inspiration!

Been working on mounting stuff. Recessed some neo magnets into the bed rails and some on the inside edges of the camper top to hold it on.

Got the lights wired up and tucked away.

Also had to change the orientation of the servo to minimize body movement when steering. Very little clearance this way, but just barely clears the hood and axle, and no more steering-induced body movement.

Almost done with details on the camper. Need to finish the front light buckets, and paint!
