I like C14 more but in the end I will be using the C54 body after I paint it. Really impressed with this little truck. Lots of fun. The v3 radio and sound kit it pretty cool too. https://www.wpl-rc.com/?ref=J1000

C14 and C24 are the same exact chassis, and the only difference is the front fascia and the rear bed. The C14 would be slightly more capable just because it would have more approach and departure angle, but it's mostly up to your preference

Sweet C14! I really want the C54 FJ80 body, but I recently acquired a 3D printer and I'm going to print an FJ60 to fill that land cruiser hole in my collection anyway. Maybe I just have to buy another C14/24 chassis for the C54 body

Super cool! I'll be interested in seeing what you come up with! I own an 80 series and LX470 in real life I can't get enough cruisers!

That's awesome! I'd love to see you recreate your 80 in WPL form.

I prefer the C24 with full pickup truck bed because it has more familiarity, a more "pedestrian" and commonplace appearance and more options for stowing scale accessories. I don't think the full bed makes you lose any crawling capability unless you drive in reverse a lot :)

The C24 has the early grill and round headlights too, which represents a 1979 to 1982 Hilux but I'm not sure if it should have the tailgate latches on each side or the single handle in the center. Uh oh, I'm OCD on the details...

In my case I hope to one day make my 1:1 80 as nice as the WPL looks haha! My 80 is a basket case atm. My LX470 is really cool though I keep looking all over for a 1/20 - 1/24 scale 100 series Land Cruiser or LX but I can't find one.

I put down the color today on my C54 body. I used 8R3 which is a Toyota 100 series and other model color, but it looks much darker than I expected. I still have to clear coat it so it may change. Looks great either way. It is much more blue than the photos show.

Cool! Looks very suburban.

You need a soccer mom driver, a load of groceries in the back and some conservative Michelin all-season tires on the rims—nothing too wild now :lmao:

Man, that color is too pretty! I think it looks fantastic, although the more blue look would have been equally awesome on it though

Thanks, I ended up picking up C24, hopefully I can get another C14.

Here is mine, with 3DPrinted wheels and front bumper...still not finishing the build because still build some accessories. But I have changed the axles to metal one, alloy servo mount, 2 motors config, 'thin' metal links (not really liking the beefier one as not looks scale)

Wow, that's one awesome build! It looks so aggressive! I 3D printed one of those bumpers for a friend, support material was a pain, but it looks well worth it

Thanks, was printed with SLA printer though:mrgreen:
I'm barely new to SLA printer, so do I still amaze with the result than FDM printing"thumbsup"
You should try SLA as these days more affordable IMHO.

Oh really? It looks like a better finish, maybe my next one will be SLA

Since I haven't shown it in a while, here's my C24. I sprayed it with Testors One Coat Lacquer Root Beer Brown to replicate Toyota's Brown Metallic color. I'm pretty happy with the finishhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...94f004518a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d9621c0ad3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ae3f05fe10.jpg

@CD02,
Nice! Clean build...was thinking that color for my body:)
Does the rear cage made from metal? If so, what diameter did you use?

Made rock slider...

Thanks man! I think it's 3mm aluminum (Idrk it's just some bent up and brazed coat hanger like my brush guards). Those rock sliders look really good as well!

Thanks. The stripes and "Toyota" were done with vinyl decal material.

Looks great, I have been searching for some for my root beer C24 but couldn't find any. I guess I could hand cut some, but I can't buy small amounts of vinyl like that. Did you paint it or is that the stock white? It almost looks like an eggshell color or it may just be your lighting.

My wife bought me one of the craft vinyl cutters last year for xmas so I could make decals for different models. Amazon has 12x12 sheets of mixed colours for not too much money. The stack of random colours would probably last forever if you were hand cutting small stuff.

It is painted with Rustoleum ivory silk. It was the closest I could find to the original toyota beige without having to dig out the airbrush and custom mix something

I hvent really put much thought into it. Pretty busy with 2 small kids. If you want to PM me with what you were thinking, I can see what i can do.

We have a few feet of snow here, and im still waiting on parts from the slow boat, so I have only been driving this thing inside. My son has been driving my Barrage 1/24 and hes loving it now that we can both drive together. He stripped one of the gears in it too though, so also waiting for them to show up before we do too much more driving.

I have ordered the aluminum braces and metal links, but don't like the way any of the aftermarket shocks mount up. From all the pics I've seen, it looks like they use a bolt as a stud with a bunch of nuts as spacers. It also looks like there is some weird angles on the shocks to get them to clear stuff. ive been thinking about making my own shocks, unless someone has found cheap aftermarket ones that arent huge and mount awkwardly.

Alright sounds good. I think you should look into the some of the Tamiya 1/14 Chinese shocks. Stick the stock springs in and they're perfect. The other internally sprung ones look like propane tanks and way too stiff like the externally sprung ones. They're actually rebranded shocks got the WLtoys 1/18 trucks

I used 1/18 Dromida shocks with the stock springs cut down and installed internally. I'm also running a custom chassis and trusses though, so not sure how hard it would be to get them to work with another setup...https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...51c7cfcdde.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...57c1d60a2f.jpg

How did you cut the chassis? it looks pretty good.

I might make my own shocks with the stock springs. Last night i was playing around with some old Losi MRC shocks i had laying around and i figured they were almost perfect and i could just use the stock springs internally, but the more i thought about it, the more i wanted to get the MRC back together as its all completely custom. i had pulled apart the tube chassis i had made so i could work on it, and it has since been lost, so i have a bucket of all the other parts stull sitting there.

I work with metal fabrication equipment, my boss lets me use the equipment for my projects. This was made with a CNC Press Punch and a metal brake.

Ok, thanks. The edges made it look punched, but I wasnt sure if you were just amazing with shears.

Yeah I saw that a while back. Wasn't sure if it actually came with the "TOYOTA" tailgate decals since it only actually showed some band vinyls and then an RC4WD TF2

The "micro scale" description might turn off a lot of newcomers who don't actually know these WPL Toyota trucks are 1/14 and pretty large in reality.

Micro means Hot Wheels size, or 1/32-1/35 or something along those lines to me but I'm not sure about what an official hobby source might
call it.
