Yeah, the new version kits come with all metal axle gears and driveshafts that are held on by a screw

Lots of kits arriving with crushed packaging. I was lucky to only have a small crease in the front fender.

Did you order from Banggood? WPL-RC.com is way better with shipping. Unfortunately they don't carry standard kits and RTR's at the moment

Ah, at least you have a newer version kit that comes with all metal gears, better gearbox, and better driveshafts

Re: WPL C14

So I just got a new C14 in a trade (The tan one). It's a 1st gen kit, so it has the softest tires, a wimpy black gearbox, and plastic ring and pinion. I first started with painting some stuff black like the wheels, frame rails, and toolbox and it looks way better now. I'm probably going to just put the 260 gearbox from my C24 in it when I buy a 2-speed for the 24.

Sweet! I love the C24, I can't post pics here on my PC, but you can see my build on my YouTube channel; Overland_RC

Prototypes for new trusses, including axle mounted steering. These prototypes are 3D printed to check fitment, but final units will be 16ga steel for strength and a bit of weight...

Sorry about the photo quality, I need some PETG that isn't black, lol...

New frame to eliminate the front pieces to make room for the axle mounted servo, and added new mounting points for longer shocks...

Axle trusses need another revision, lower mounting points didn't quite work the way I expected, but should be a pretty easy fix...

Finally running again. Overall pretty happy with my chassis/suspension mods. Decent suspension travel without being bouncy/floppy. Axle mounted servo is about 1000% better than the stock CMS, lol. Dromida shocks are working pretty well, but I'd still like to soften them up just a bit more...

Beadlock redesign will be next, my 3D skills are way better than they were a few years ago, hoping to widen the bolt circle by at least a few millimeters https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...cee8346b6a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ed03e3e9d7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ad2acae97b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d72597eb6f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fc1916c58e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b6f420390f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f76144d8c7.jpg

I never got the notification for these replies. That build is super sick btw!

How's the suspension link clearance on the 2-speed servo? People often have problems with them hitting the servo arm

Thanks.

Yeah, I wasn't able to install the servo, I have the shifter wired into place in low gear right now, and have a single-speed 370 setup on the way.

I also need to go through and measure all the hardware so I can order the correct stuff, it's kind of cobbled together at the moment.

What if you fabricated some frame rails like the C34 has where the bottom is completely flush so you don't have as much hangup. That would also give clearance for the shifter arm

There is this video about increasing the ground clearance by lifting the 2-speed gearbox up which also gives space for the servo, but at the cost of losing the middle tray and possibly requiring some cutting and remounting of the shell as well.

Yeah, I did that with my 260 motor and gearbox. I decided to go back cause I wasn't getting good performance with it. I might try it again when I get the 2-speed. But right now, I've got a brushless outrunner in the 260 gearbox

Re: WPL C14

I don't suppose there are metal gears for the stock yellow gearbox? I'm satisfied with the performance of the stock motor but the gearbox gave out while my son was playing with it. I swapped in a spare motor/gearbox combo I had around and we were surprised that it seemed to have a much quicker motor. (Both cans are the same dimensions and both were from a C14 kit. The slower motor is the same speed as the one in my C24 kit.) He did a few wheelies by going in reverse and then hammering the throttle and of course that gearbox gave out. On both gearboxes it is the same gear that broke (the one that is connected to the one driving the output shaft).

Yeah, sadly the tan gearbox has no replacement or upgraded gears. You can buy a new gearbox with the online store opens back up.

I got the standard kit. It came with metal gears, shims, and stronger plastic driveshafts though. The kit version also has the adjustable links

New to the wpl models and have recently installed the 2 speed gear box and v3 elextronics.

Can anyone tell my why my drag brake works for high gear but not low? Thought it was supposed to be the other way around.

It's specifically to save the gears and stuff when your driving faster in high gear. I like how if you're running a single speed, it'll act as a drag brake toggle on/off.

I've got one otw for my C24, how are you liking yours?

So after several iterations, I think the current plan is to do a forward motor setup with a divorced 3D printed transfer case. Still some minor details to work out....

I may even go back to CMS if I can devise a decent panhard setup...

My friend made a really simple panhard setup for his C24 using some sheet metal, standard link, and C34 truss. The metal is bent and has a hole to mount the rod, then the servo sandwiches the the mount between it and the chassis. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...56f20c83a5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ac5023a802.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1eac911cf6.jpg

I made my own trusses, so I would probably just modify that and add a mounting tab for the panhard. My frame is also custom, so same deal there. Would need to adjust the 3D printed frame braces to hold the servo, but that shouldn't be a big deal...https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...97df83b308.jpg
