That's to bad Storm, I mean its the finals.... Yeah the finals and I have been spending all of my time working on my FJ40 so I can drive it up there..... But I don't have a running comp rig right now Just wrapped up the Land Cruiser, been working on it since 8:30am today. I painted the dash, it was two tone before and didn't blend in. Then I started to fab up a patch for the transmission hump. The old patch job was flimsy and the welds broke free on it allowing heat to escape into the cab area. So basically I had a heater fan blowing on my legs when I was driving it.... I also had to change the belt on the alternator/compressor pump as it was squealing at 2500+ rpms. After all of that it was about 1pm, so I drove it up to Wendys for some lunch, a nice 12 mile round trip test run It felt great cruising at 50, ran good too. After I finished eating, I fired it back up to turn it around... It was squealing at idle now :-( So I popped the hood to investigate, sounded like the bearing went out on the York compressor pump. Since I don't have the compressor hooked up right now, I opted to bypass it with a shorter belt. I cut the old belt to measure how much shorter I needed, and ran up to Napa. They sold me the wrong one the first time... So I had to go back and get the right one It was a perfect fit, but yet again it squealed on me. This time it was because the alternator was slipping. The lower mounting bolt was stripped out in the alternator housing. So I had to bust out the heli-coils and fix the threads on that... Finally it held tension, and runs sqeak free Of course my problems of the day could not end there.... Some how the hose from the radiator to the overflow tank got caught up in the alternator fan So now I was leaking antifreeze on the drive way. Well not to long ago while I was at wall mart picking up some stuff, I grabbed a over sized over flow tank with the intention of installing it on the FJ40. So after a bit of tweaking on the mounting bracket, I got that installed and called it a night. The bolts do prevent the hood from closing all the way, so I will need to change how it is mounted, but that can wait a few days. Anyways, I need to wash up and eat some food. Then I have to fab up 2 new upper link mounts for the Axial, and a dig servo mount. Then fit the drive shafts, check for clearance. And install a new servo, and the brushless setup out of the gopher. I just hope I don't need to make new upper links.... Anyone else as ready as I am for the finals? |

Both upper link mount plates are done Servo is mounted Max amps Lipo pack is secured on the upper links Drive shafts are hooked up to the R2 dig tranny Dig servo is now mounted in place, and the linkage setup off the gopher was a perfect fit. All thats left to do now is solder up a new BEC to the quark, bolt in the crawlmaster, and secure the esc, reciever, and BEC. Then a quick run through with the radio settings, and tossing the batterys on the charger. I might even get to bed a little early tonight |
