Better loctite the hell out of the set screws on those junfac shafts. And carry several replacement pins. I ran those for a while last year and dropped the driveshaft on several occasions. Broke a few pins too.

Heck, we detonated a couple pairs of the newer style Junfacs on our Wraiths, trying to save a little rotating mass. The drive-shaft itself split at the D-shape, making them totally useless. The suck is that you can't find individual replacement parts for them, like on the MIP's. Might be OK on the scalers. But I wouldn't plan on hammering on them too hard. I'm still looking for some stock Wild Boar drive-shafts. The CV portion is good, and it's an easy fusible link to replace when things go bad. Cheap too! Good to see you gearing up though! We're just starting to try and get our stuff ready for the first GTG! Can't wait! |

I'm gonna have to disagree with you guys on the Junfacs....I have ran them exclusively on the comp rig (2 yr) and the fat pig JK (and dont exactly drive miss daisy around with it). Have never broke anything, and as long as you shrink tube the pin, have never lost one. Will say those areboth on a 35t brushed motor, on brushless (i remember seeing Ty's/and question the engagement length) I would go a different route. just my pennies...

Perhaps so, And we were running brushless as well, probably a big factor. But I'm not too sure the newer style ones, with the ring around the pin, are running the same short D-shape internally. It doesn't go all the way down the shaft, and provides a shear point within the "tube" portion of the drive-shaft. |

They have only 1/4" engagement threw the drive shafts. They're good for the 1.9, but with the wraith/tire size, and 13.5 on 3s is the reason it broke. |

I think he is talking about the shaft being completely round except for the one side that's flat and its the only area where the male and female shafts engage each other. Most drive shafts have a flat spot on 2 or 4 sides and some have splines. I've never had a problem with engagement, just pins and set screws. |

This is what I mean The "Female" side of the drive shaft has a 1/4" D notch in it. I can put the whole drive shaft in, an it'll spin freely. Your rig should be fine, because it's slower. Mine broke because of a sudden in packet with the tires at low speed after I jumped it. Going to fix them (for the pacer) with flat steel to form the D notch, if the carbon steel will take it. Can't hurt what's already broke. |
