Default Gobo The Explorer

He's a Fraggle.

I haven't done a real build thread in a while, but I will do my best.

Inspired by Chino's Real Scale 6x6 I decided to try to build something along the same lines. Opting for a cabover though just because I like them.

Its in the very early stages, but I was dying to mock it up

6X6 Globeliner

1.9 Tamiya Hummer wheels
RC4WD Mickey Thompson Baja Claws (4.19") in a super sticky compound
TLT axles, which will soon be well out fitted.
Random rail chassis that I got from 666
Axial transmission
Raceway Hobbies transfer case
SCX10 skid plate
Tamiya Globeliner body, with a bunch of the extra junk and a few add ons coming soon.

Thats it for parts for now, Im still up in the air on a lot of the other parts. I have tons of pieces around, just need to find what will go with the look I am after.

Wheelbase should end up between 13.5 and 14 inches.

Here are a couple photos for now.

Thats it for now.

Thanks for lookin'
Ty

Thats a good question, probably some kind of desert survival/recovery vehicle. Basically this is all based on all the "stuff" I want to incorporate into the build and the main color schemes.

Im thinking some point down the line building a hitch and trailer for it... That is definitely last on the list though.

I got a little bit of work done today on Gobo.

Got a few parts in while I was out of town.

These should help clean up the look of the rear axles and keep them in one piece.

I also got some parts to get started on the interior and the back of the cab.

I also Layed down some paint before I left to see where I needed more sanding and to test out some color options.

And the rear axles with some new parts on them.

There is still a lot to do, but progress is coming along.

Going to put an order in for a few more parts and start to draw up the metal work this week.

You need to make it a scaler of this turck from Terminator 2.

I will leave that one for you.

I got a little bit of work done, but have been struggling with what to do with the rig, so most of it was done to the cab.

And some mock up for some "accessories".

With this rig I do plan to throw a lot of the scale junk I have been collecting over the years on it.

The ladders on the cab are from Bruder, which I ordered and have been sitting in a box for the last 5 years, but they finally found a purpose.
The mirrors are just from an Axial parts tree and I think everything else is for the Globeliner.

I also managed to start mounting the axles to the frame. Not sure if this method is going to work yet...

The leaf springs are Chino's Military leafs, the length is perfect, I just need to figure out if this mounting method will work...

And since I have a little A.D.D with this project and bounce around a little I bent the first piece of solid rod for a storage rack for the roof.

Some interior work is to come, I know I said I was going to add a lot of scale nonsense to this, but I don't plan on pulling a Chaman. Most of the scale accessories will be inside the cab.

I also think a wood flat bed is in the future of this rig.

I love the cab details bro. I can almost bet you have more money in tires and wheels than the rest of the truck I say a simple flat bed with a tube tire mount, some diesel tanks on the sides and a 3r winch mounted to the rear so you can pull whatever you want up onto it.

Dang its like your in my head. I just got a 3R winch for the bed and was planning some hinge/tube set up for the tires. I am going to do a diesel tank but I was thinking somewhere in the bed, probably by the cab... There is some money in tires, but so far the cab is the most expensive thing still. I didn't realize when I started but collecting all the different Globeliner pieces just for the cab is already in the area of 150.00.

Next time it would probably be cheaper to start with a Semi truck kit.

Umm, I hate to be a critic, but um, it looks like you may want to trim the chassis a little bit on the front.

DOH! why not shorten it but leave some room for a big snow plow on the front? I know it gets snowy up there. That would be pretty cool on a rugged 6x6
