| Duck boat Scaler/ Dukw
I am not much of a scaler but my son today mentioned wanting to build a duck boat rc car. I took that as a challenge. Anyway, now I am thinking about it. The true truck/boats are front wheel drive. That should make this a bit easier but I am seeing a servo to switch from wheel drive to prop drive being a bit part of this. Anyway, wanted to see if anyone has tried this? Also anyone have a though on trying to start with a boat tub, and build the car into it, or start with a car and build the boat around that? |

Long time ago I saw a thread on another board where a guy scratch built a DUKW that actually was capable of going in the water. I'll see if I can dig it up for you!

That's a brilliant idea!!!!! I'd love to build one sometime... You could use a dig with the rear shaft hooked up to the prop shaft instead of the rear axle.. And just engage it for using the prop.. That just came to me while writing my previous statement.. I'm sure there are other good options as well.

I have seen a dig used for a PTO style winch, in place of the main trasnmission in a divorced setup. no reason you couldn't reverse the configuration. hull would be easy enough to built too!

could do almost like a MOA setup. 2esc's 2 motors. one set to cover the land (steering fwd or 6wd, some specs I've seen show driveshafts to the rear 2 wheels) then another to cover the sea (prop and rudder).
