| 6X6 rear axle to axle short driveshaft?
what is everyone using to link the 2 rear axles together? I cut down a stock axial drive shaft but its not long enough and comes apart really easily :(

I did exactly what you did, I guess you just cut yours too short? Mine have almost no room to collapse. Mine are mounted on a walking beam type suspension so there's not much difference in movement between my axle pairs. If yours are mounted with 4 link and shocks might need more travel. But I'd start by cutting them down just enough that they'll go together and see if you need to trim more for them to collapse any

I had that same problem when i first built mine with a walking bead setup , When i cut my second shaft there's almost no slide in it at all. Also make sure you have it link up right so it doesn't pop out under a torque load.

It's all trial and error. I had to use limiting straps on both rear axles to keep it from driveshaft from separating. I have a 6x6 TJ build on here with 6ws. I think I address it in that build. Good luck. . |

I made mine to slide out more than in, if that makes sense. During axle compression, the drive shaft can slide out slightly but is even too short to install. It requires the removal of one axle to install the driveshaft. Never falls out.

I did a 4 link for the back all 6 axles. I cut down a stock shaft for the rear. The spacing between the axles and your travel are two things you can move around to keep your shaft together.
