Default MAN Kat 8x8

Some time before I start gathering parts for this build, RC4WD anounces the Beast II... Thank you RC4WD!!

Anyway, the body will be something similar to a MAN Kat body, it will be 8x8x4 e it's all said! I Do not pretend to make it has close to the 1:1 as possible, it's just a project to do with time.

On to the photos!

The body is from TSS - The Scaler Store, an italian store.

I like this part especially!

With the body came the axles and the wheels! Yota II and Gmade NR01 1.9.

Robitronic ESCs and Axial Maxxis Trepador 1.9!

8x8EAST Mk1 chassis. Design by me and laser cut by a friend. Weighs 2100g. It had a loto of flaws so it had to be redesigned...

1/5th scale servo, 30kg of torque at 6V.

Stripping the paint from the axles! They will be painted in another collor.

8x8EAST Mk2. Redesigned and now it weighs now 1350kg.

Hope you like it!

Well, the painting of the axles wasn't going very well so, after some more brush work, the final color will be brushed aluminium! Very "biutifoll"!

Transmission is attached to one of the frame rails so it can sit lower and more level.

Shocks are in place and are expected to old the weight of this ugly pile of parts!

Now I just have to wait for the arrival of the 4-link mounts and the driveshafts.

Very nice build so far. You have a great pile of parts there. Where on earth did you get that mk2 chassis from?

Well, it looks awesome and the suspension geometry looks good too.

Thanks!

It does have an issue though: the servo is in the way of the front axle's 3rd link... But I'm already thinking in a solution...

It's alive!

Crossmembers design in 2D by me and printed by Shapeways using their 2D to 3D option.

Front bumper was made by Cooperworks.

Although the results have been satisfactory, I thought it would be better to use two motors instead of just one,so I "drew out" Sketchup and draw a transmission for two motors using the internal gears of a Vaterra Ascender's transmission. Hope it works...

I also drew some mounts for a flatbed. They had to be divided in two because they were to large for the printer!

Nice looking rig gamer!!
Excellent work!!
I'm in the process of building an 8x8 trials truck from SCX-10 axles and an aluminum 2' level as a chassis.
I'm having some troubles engineering my suspension and I was wondering if you could post some pics from under the truck so I can get a better insight as to how your suspension and driveline is setup?
Thanks,
Rob

I'm sorry for not replying to your post! This one has been for sale for some time but now I'm back at it! And I'm decided to make it run! And it will run!!!!

The setup is pretty similar to any 3/4 link setup! It uses RCMODELEX 4 link mount for the axles: Axles + Parts for Axle | 4link Axle mont ALU Black + M3 hole | RCMODELex - specialized for RC rock crawling, trial and expeditions
I'll take a pic later!

In the mean time I've made more crossmembers and had them printed and are already installed.

Today I might receive the 3D printed transmission parts. When time allows, I'll build the transmission and see if everything fits as it supposed to!

Not much... Made a bed, and installed a laser cut front bumper... Drove it last weekend at a GTG and found out it needs a urgent upgrade to XVDs and a BEC! Other then that, it climbs like a goat, as long as it doesn't have to turn!

Some pics:

I'll get the XVDs toadey and installed them when I can, then, I'll paint the cab red!
