Default Help with first 6x6

So as long as everything goes well will be getting a nice tc4wd k2 6x6 chassis Wednesday(or paying for it Wednesday anyways). Was curious if people had recomendations on trans and axles. Also bodies that fit. Will be running 6 proline flatirons on method 2.2 beadlocks and a hh motor(not sure yet) with hh esc and hh 500 servo(when back in Stock. And help to get this going in the right direction would be amazing!!

Does anyone know what size axle fits? I want to use scx axles since they are budget friendly but will they work?

There are options from rc4wd, cross rc, and axial. The scx10 one's are going to be the cheapest. They also have the most upgrades and options

They are all metal though. I haven't decided yet what axles I would like to use yet

That's what I'm thinking I might use. Do you think the yota axles will fit the rc4wd k2-6 chassis? I have my financial advisor(aka wife) talked into letting me do this. Only stipulation is I have to take my time and build it right. Yup a pretty lucky guy that has a wife that supports my addiction lol.

I have no experience with that chassis. I will either be combining 2 scx10 chassis or buying an extended one. I don't think any axles will be a problem on any chassis as long as you get the link length correct

Ok sounds good. I wasn't sure. I'm very good at making homemade links but have 0 experiance with rc4wd stuff. I was going to do the same with two scx10s but a fellow forum member offered this one and figured I might as well buy it and go from there. Want to do a big military truck build with a bullhead body and a fifth wheel hitch and a flatbed trailer to haul my other two rigs. Ones my wraith and my 6yo daughter has claimed my scx10 I honestly think for the price I'm just going to use scx10 axles since I am familiar with them.

I'm 90% sure that's the route I'm going. I was really hoping the SCX10 II's axles could be made pass-thru, but no luck.

Yeah same here on te scx 2 axles. My buddy is trying to talk me into wraith axles but I think that would look goofy kinda. But yeah I talked to rc4wdvamd they said the yota 2 axles would be the best fit but man....70$ a pop is a little too steep maybe. But I am getting this with the plans of making it a summer/winter build so I can stop "improving" my wraith and scx. So even if I bought a axle per month I would be ok. My kiddo is going through some serious medical issues at the moment so money is fairley snug at the moment but rc is a way for me to get away for a hour or two here and there to unwind and blow off some stress. There's a spot me and her can go(the scx is hers now) and go trail together to help her escape what she's dealing with and have some daddy daughter time. But enough of all that depressing stuff. I am pretty sure axial axles should do fine

They are only $20 more per axle. They are also all metal and the pumpkin is much smaller

That's what I'm thinking. Plus the one is already set up for the middle axle and and would even out when I have to buy two axles to make te one with both outputs(not sure the real name)

Hey if you need a chassis check out the homebrew 6x6 chassis it's sweet! Also the scx10 axle housings can be made to pass threw. If you need any help pm me I'll be glad to help. I just finished my 6x6. I've made my own links also. It's easy.
Super awesome that your wife is on board! I've got a video up of the homebrew chassis in my build thread.

We'll have finally come to the time to start assembling and starting a build log soon. Last question as how do your mount there rear axle. I'm using scx10 axles that I've managed to build with the help of a few guys here and am just curious how to mount or modify the rear axle to avoid it spinning backwards. I read somewhere flip the rear diff?? But if I do that will it clear the housing? Any tips or advice would be appreciated before I dig into this thing this weekend.

Just flip the entire axle. I plan on using the ssd d6p axle housing which is designed opposite of the stock axle.

If you use the stock 4 link mount and drill a hole in the housing and tap it you will be good to go! Let me know if you need more information etc.

So......started to put a few things together and realized I am missing almost all the needed screws and nuts for the links and shocks so tomorrow I'm going to go to the local hardware store that sells the screws I need, they only carry them in stainless but no complaints there, and start the build. Should work out. But also going to have to trim some driveshaft off te scx ones I think but need to get it all linked and shocked up before I go that far. Will get some pics up tomorrow. Would like to give a thank you to micro-racer, snapon boy, and mr.rick for the help with some parts without your guys help I'd be still looking for axles. Also thank you to anyone else off here I bought parts from for the build

Next payday one is in the plans now. Thank you for the heads up. Never heard of that company before. I plan on grabbing a few tomorrow still just to get it mocked up but man for 30$ that's a good deal!! Any tips on using these scx driveshafts on this thing? Also debating if the rc4wd 2speed is really worth it or trying to swap it for a built scx transmission. Would a scx10 transmission bolt up to the rc4wd plate?
