| this is how i spent my wednesday afternoon.
started work at 6:30am, cycling all the contaminated hydraulic oil of a rig, take a break at about 11:30 to go get lunch. while standing in line to get my food at wendy's my company phone goes off. disaster... one of our rigs, on its way back from a job down on the NV/CA border, blew a steer tire. this is a 40' long 78,000lb truck, blowing a tire on an axle holding up 20k lbs is a big deal. the driver fought it but it went over on the side of the road and slid to a stop on its passenger side. he was wearing his seatbelt, he's a little sore, but he walked away. the truck is likely totaled, it'll probably be a parts rig now. beat the tow truck back to our yard to make room for this thing, tow bill was $2700. left for home at 6pm... this 60 ton KW rotator was ****in impressive!! |

Glad the driver is ok. Can replace a truck, not the person.

Wow.! At least the driver walked away. We had very few crashes like this, hopefully you guys dont have anymore either. Reminds me of frac'ing natural gas n crude oil. Never a dull moment. Seems when something happens with heavy equipment its never really a quick fix. lol I have tons of pic from work with this kind of stuff. Heres a few. 128,000 pound frac pump, rifle CO D-9 pulled it out and several others. http:// http:// Acid tube hit ditch n over corrected. McAlister Ok http:// The only way to leave location, searcy AR http:// One of my guys tried to let another truck pass, slid off the road. http:// 38 pieces of equipment going to frac one othe most expensive frac jobs in Louisiana in 2009 almost a million dollars a stage. Did 17 stages round the clock. The trucks range from 750 thousand for a 3 cell slurry gel to 1.2 million for a frac pump all the way up to 1.9 million for a blender http:// rigged up, the man lift was a manual valve for a balll drop between statges. http:// This is a frac cat where I called jobs from. Company man would be inside with company engineer, fluid tech and treater. Monitor well pressure, gpm of chemicals, pounds per thousand of proppant, weight of slick gels, auger speeds on blenders, flow rate of water. pounds per minute from stater pumps, density of sands, rpm and gear of each truck, ppi of fluid ends on trucks and pretty much anything else we need. Wide open we could run 105 barrels PER MINUTE (one barrel is 42 gallons) with 20,000 hydraulic horsepower from all the frac pumps (2500 hp cummins diesel with 6 speed transmission) tied together. The iron weighs 72 pounds a linear foot and rated for 20,000 pounds per inch. http:// |

the NHP officer there said the same thing. haha! that's cool anthony,my grandpa worked oil fields back in the 50s/60s, similar situations. and you're right, when dealing with this big shit, there's never a dull moment, there are no quick fixes and every day is a new disaster. fortunately this was one of our smaller rigs. 78k lbs and about $450k. we've got schwing 58 meter concrete pumps that are 120-130k lbs and $1.2M to replace. but with 6 axles under them, they actually handle blow outs pretty well. Not cheap enough! I got a fantastic local place, a food truck, but it's considered the best BBq in Columbus, but after I've read a lot, it's considered only good by real aficionados of the bar be que. No matter, it's good shit for sure. One day DF, one day I'll get there. Ray Ray's Hog Pit - Local Business - Columbus, OH | Facebook |
