| Poll: NMRCC Sportsman Class?
I want to see how many NMRCC guys would run the sportsman class if we offered it. We need to see how much interest there is before we spend too much time going over the rules: Keep in mind a couple of things: -You would not be able to qualify for Nationals -Sportsman class is ideally intended to be for new guys to get started in until their ready for the pro class, or for those wanting to compete with lesser skilled drivers -dig would not be allowed - Only shafty trucks allowed. -We'd most likely share part if not all of the pro course, so no one could run both classes You should not be in sportsman if: -you have been placed in at least the top 5 of any of our series' -If you've competed in a pro class of any regional/national event I'll leave this poll up till next sunday, the 24th.. Let your vote be heard. If there is enough intrest in a sportsman class, we will set that up. Please also note: There are no comp fees. To qualify for states and nationals, you will need to join the NMRCC club for a one time $20.00. If states and nationals are of intrest, you are still more then welcome to come and comp at no charge. ********** UPDATE ********* So as noted, I left this up for vote for the last week to see what interest we have in a sportsman class. In all honesty I did not as much love as I was hoping to see, but none the less, I am not dismissing the fact there is some interest in it. That being said, this is how we are going to do "Sportsman Class" We are going to set up ten gates; the first 5 are "Sportsman". After the first 5gates, they turn off and finish. The "pro" drivers will drive all ten. The first 5 will be challenging for their class, but not impossible, for a "novice" rig to make. This will keep it challenging for the "Pro" class as well. We are not going to have any restrictions on "Sportsman/Novice" rigs. If you want to run in this class that’s fine. IF you win 2 comps in that class, we move you to Pro class. This gives the guys that are running a Shafty/no dig/ stock truck, a sense of accomplishment. If you start the season in the sportsman class, you will not be eligible compete in the official "series" to go to state. Only "Pro" drivers can do that. So if a guy is running an MOA and says he wants to run Sportsman, they can. More than likely in 2 comps he/she is going to be in Pro class and still having fun and NOT in the point’s race for State. I'm game. My comp rig probably fits in that class right now anyway so I would probably run that class until I get around to putting in my dig. I need to actually make a few comps first.....:-P

Also: Everyone please remember. If you start in the "Sportsman Class" You automatically preclude yourself from competing to go to states/nationals. A dig is not required to make it in the Proclass; it's more about knowing what lines your truck can make, and how to drive it! | |
