Default Where the hell is a good place to go "trailin" in Albuquerque

Hi,

As my previous post states, new to the forums...

I was wondering, where is a good place in Albuquerque that I can go mess around with my scale rig and do some trail running and some fun rock crawlin?

Oh, also, does anybody ever go out as a group and do some fun ol' trail riding? If so, I'd be interested in going out one of these weekends.

I live on the west side if that matters, so if there is a fun place nearby, please let me know.

Thanks!

Here ya go!

If you need more details PM me.

Rock House

North on Tramway from Paseo Del Norte.
East on NM333. DON'T FORGET TO PAY $3 AT THE PAYSTATION.
Turn rt at the first turn off.
We usually meet at the second parking lot.

White Wash

East on Candelaria past Tramway.
South on Camino de la Sierra for 0.3 miles.
Parking lot to the east. Hike east up the canyon.

Poo Water

North on Eubank from Montgomery.
Behind Lota Burger on Eubank and Osuna.
Not the best scale spot... but it is close to some yummy food!

Westside

From Coors and Ouray go west on Ouray
South on 64th
West on Juniper
South on 68th to Illiff (East Atrisco Park)
Park on street and walk south to the arroyo.
Again... not the best scale spot.. but very easy to get to.

Rio Puerco

From NM 528 and Southern head west on southern until southern ends.
If you need coordinates PM me.
Very fun spot... but it is WAY out there!

I also forgot to mention San Yisidro... The best spot of all to scale crawl. But there is this little issues of the BLM... so getting permission to use the land is at time.... lets just say tricky.

Cool, do you have a map of this San Ysidro place?

Also, since I live on the west side, I am going to try and check out that west side location you sent me.

Does anybody ever go out and do just some scale trailin? Seems like there is interest.

Thanks again!

There are a few of us who do scale runs. At our last scale meet, I think we had something like 10 or so rigs. There is always a great turn out. there just isn't much talk that happens on these boards.

Let me look an see if I can find a map to San Yisidro.

San Ysidro is easy to get to. Just head up 550 out of Bernalillo and instead of turning to go to Jemez when you get to San Ysidro, just keep heading North towards Cuba. There is a parking lot just outside of San Ysidro just past the truck weigh station on the right side of the road. It's the only parking lot you will see. It comes up fast so don't miss it. If you start going up the hill you've gone way too far. If you don't get the key to the gate from BLM, you will need to hike in to the crawl spot. It's a trials motorcycle riding area and it's a really great crawl spot. BLM usually gives us grief if we do an "organized" comp with gates and everything. They want a permit fee. I don't think it's an issue if we just go goof around out there. If you are going to hike in, it's probably a mile or so to the parking lot at the gate to where we usually park inside. Then it's a hundred yards or so to the rocks.

i used to live on south 14, there is some good "trails" to run plus plenty of extreme places to crawl. it all boils down to how hard you make it, from "mild" to "seriously, we're going up that"
