| NM crawlers, I need a radio!
Good morning Guys and Girls, So I finally put my CC BEC in my Losi and hooked it up as instructed on the diagram that came with it. Long story short, it fried my receiver in about 3 min of light running. I am trying to see if anyone has a spectrum or older futaba they might be willing to part with cheap. I have exactly 50 dollars to my name right now and that is the best I can do. I can afford to get a flysky fs-gt3b but it is doubtful I can get it here in time. The only other option I can think of is if one you has a stock losi receiver that you don't use. I would be willing to buy that too if you think it would work. I looked on Losi's site and they want almost 50 dollars just for that. I have gone through the for sale section and several of the radios for sale are already gone or come as a package deal or without a receiver. If any of you have something that might work for me, please try to hit me up today cause if there is nothing local, I will need to order that flysky today in hopes that it gets here before the comp. Thanks All, Mike |

It is set at 6 volts. I hooked it up and put on my 2s 1300mah 15c battery and tested. At first, there was resistance to drive forward or backward. Then it started to clear up. I started up a modest climb on a homemade course and it just stopped. No forward, no reverse, only the steering servo responded. I read a forum that some receivers can't handle the constant voltage and you should wire the servo directly. Fortunately I didn't cut wires I just removed pins and I was able to reconnect the esc to the receiver and direct wire the servo to the bec. The result however is a crawler that turns when throttle is applied, forward or reverse. I have tried moving wires to reduce any kind of interference but I get the same results. When I saw the price for a receiver replacement, I figured I would try to get a new radio. So here we are.

Last time I was there, the indoor track on Eubank had some used spectrum receivers. Under $40 I think. And if you are using the losi radio the spectrum receiver should work. Shot me a pm if you don't find anything before the next comp and I'll loan you one of mine.

Many thanks to everyone for the help. I purchased the DX3 from 505kustomz (Mark) and it works great. It also has me one step closer to a pro comp truck. I am slowly acquiring the pieces as I go and will likely be ready for pro next season. But for now, I finally have a BEC driven servo and it definitely makes a difference. Next step for the tortuga is better batts. The 15c just ain't cutting it. Are there any brands of batts you guys would say to steer clear of?
