Can we rock crawl in NYC Central Park???

I was there yesterday and the rocks in central park look freaking ridiculous for RC crawling.

Anybody know if you are aloud to crawl there...didn't see anybody. NYC is very weird about everything........

I've crawled in the park on several occasions. Never had anyone say a thing

I've seen people crawling there as well. There are some great rocks a few minutes outside the zoo's north exit.

I'd like to get over to central park to crawl. Right now I crawl/scale over in the park my me(Prospect Park, Brooklyn). There's some dirt mounds with rocks but nothing like central park. There's a user on here that has a youtube vid of his scx10 in Central park

You should also consider Orchard Beach in the Bronx.Great place past section one to crawl.

I live in Ct. now but I am originally from the BX and would be willing to come down for some kind of event in NYC. I can do scale or comp. I've seen those Central Park rocks and thought the same thing. I'll keep my eyes peeled here.

Central Park is great place to crawl but i would not do a get together unless you call the permit office at 64th street and 5th to find out if you can. https://nyceventpermits.nyc.gov/Parks/

One or two people crawling is not enough to cause an issue. A gathering will definitely cause attention and without proper permits will bring a quick end to your crawling session.

The other parks will not bother you as much but Central Park is also supported by the central park conservancy so they are a bit more stricter with how the park is run and maintained.

Orchard Beach however should be good. i've only been ejected once there, lololol.

I took some pics of rocks in central park in case people want to see what's what in there... I started at 59th street and zig-zagged my way to about 63rd-ish street. I did this back in march or april.. there's some nice spots. one day i'll take picks of the northern part of the park.

I think it is awesome you guys are running Central Park I would never even consider it. I've heard of boat guys doing the ponds n stuff. I think so long as you aren't all over the paths and keep it somewhat low key it'll be alright. Awesome though

There is a lot worse stuff going on in central park than a couple guys with slow crawling RC trucks. The rocks there would be awesome for crawling. I might have to check them out one day.

I was in Central Park yesterday, first run of a my new deadbolt scx10, I found a great place by the west side and 96th street, intermediate diffulty level, enough to challenge my amateur skills. Lots of porous rocks with great grip. Does anyone know of a good place not to far from the city in Long Island? I know saxton woods in weschester as some good rocks.

I just stumbled on this thread! I live a few blocks from Central Park and have been thinking it would make for some serious RC fun... Ive never "crawled" before and cannot find anyone in NYC/Long Island to meet up with.
point being - yes there should be some sort of gtg at central park.

I crawl Central Park every Sunday for the pass four weeks. Spend about four hours a day there with my son. He runs my Axial Dingo and I run my AX 10 dead bolt. Haven't done the same thing twice and haven't even seen the whole park yet. I keep my truck at my side when I travel from one rock formation to the next one. I stay off the grass and use the paved paths. Columbus Circle has so far the best rocks to clime. If it's not below twenty degrees this Sunday I will be crawling.

@VR6 BeelzeDub i'm interested in gtg at central park for crawling.. i'm new to crawling as well. looking for people to meet up and go crawling in NYC area
