Default Delrin or Aluminum links

Hello,

Just wondering if you guys have a preference in this? What are the pros and cons of both materials?

I'm looking to maybe get Delrin links for an Axial Scorpion but wasn't sure if it would be a worth while mod. Anyone use the Delrin links before? How strong are they? do they bend or tweak? or are they as strong as stock aluminum ones?

Thanks

I love acetal for just about anything...(see my title :-P)

Yes, I have built many links using acetal. I have 3/8" solid acetal links on my super that are almost 8" long and they do flex. They flex about 1/4" in the center with the weight of the rig on it...but they are far from breaking. You would have to bend one at greater than 90 degrees to even begin to make a weak spot in it.

For the smaller rigs like my 2.2 and 1.9, I use 1/4" OD acetal tube that I run a drill bit down the center to open up the ID a bit more, then I slide threaded rod all the way through it so it sticks out both ends of the acetal tube, then thread on the rod ends. It's VERY strong, and the acetal makes for a pretty slippery link so it slides over rocks easily.

I also use 1/4" solid acetal rod for my steering links. It bends and gives when you hit something head on, so it's takes the impact rather than the steering knuckles taking the full brunt of the blow.

I make my own out of 8-32 all thread sleeved in 1/4 inch steel brake line and then use jato or revo ends(all depends on which the LHS has at the time). These are solid and cheap.

All my 2.2 builds I use 3/8 for the lowers and 5/16 for the uppers.

The 3/8 might seem a little over kill but I have broke many 5/16 lowers. Yet to brake the 3/8. Delrin or acetal is much easier to work vs alum links IMHO. Also slides over the rocks much better than alum. I will only use Delrin links!

I have never owned a set from them, but I have heard nothing but good things about the Xtreme links.
