Default rear steer OR front digs

if you guys had to choose between having either rear steer or front dig capabilities what would you choose and why. and how reliable is the rear driveline disconnect/front dig setup.

im asking this because I ordered a modified 3ch. TQ3 radio for cheap so i dont really want to order another radio.

Dig, because I can use it in competition unlike rear steer.

Dig has more benifits then just dragging the rear around turns. Once you have it you will find these uses, maybe.

Digs are reliable if made and maintained correctly.

If I drive for fun I might as well drive something worthy like a scale truck.

well i probably wont ever compete with this thing.
i know that both rear steer and front digs can get you into and out of some hairy situations.

Dig, you never know IF you may compete, but you may. If you will NEVER and you know this, rear steer. Think about this though, with a dig set up that will let you lock, unlock, and let the rear move freely/disengaged, you will ultimately have more control over what the rear end does on climbs and descents. Again, personally I would go dig. I am going to once I can scare up some money or get a job.......mortgage comes first. I really need to win the lottery or something.

PS - you should add a third selection in the poll.
Try both and see what I like more.
It is just a matter of a servo and links for the rear steer, I think I could go pirate that stuff off some of my other RC's if I wanted to.....again, just food for thought.

And another http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLLhLAIzODg

and another http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzOv5FwMoKc&NR=1

I haven't run rear steer yet.... very soon but I love dig I just don't like how bulky it is. My set up worked very well and was reliable but then I made my tuber and didn't make anything to be able to mount the extra servo to. The big advantage is being able to steer your truck on climbs with rear steer. I'll be running rear steer to see how I like it. I've just been waiting for the HD R2 with disco to come out.

But like others said..rear steer is super quick to set up...do that, see how you like it and while you have a runner start building your dig...when it's done, run that and make your pick.

Technically, can't you have both?

The 3rd channel on the TQ3 for dig, and a y harness for rear stear. You'd have to reverse the leads on the rear servo to reverse it without reversing the front too (some servos don't work when you do this, or so I've found).

If I had to choose, I'd go with dig, especially on a 2.2

I have rear steer in my AX10, I am building a dig system for comps. I love the rear steer, it cuts the turn radius by at least half (more I think, haven't measured it). But, why is rear steer not allowed in comps?

rear steering is allowed in comps but only on the super class i think. I don;t know why it's not allowed on teh 2.2 class?

I voted for the dig setup, just in case you want to compete--as someone else said, you never know if you may want to someday. I have never competed but would never set up my truck with something that couldnt be used in competition....just my 2 cents....

X2,Very useful for lot of things and if you do go to a comp you'll be able to use it

when making a dig setup, would you want to make it to where your rear axle locks or freewheels?
