Default Droop or sprung? which way to go?

I am in the process of building a tube chassis for a clod based crawler and I am confused about a droop set up...so far I have the axles locked clods, rooster crawler, dual novak 55 turn, Hs-5995TG front, Hs5645MG rear servos, modded TQ3, narrowed axial 8 hole wheels with moab xl's, derlin links, I want a 17" wheel base with 3" GC. now rethinking the sprung shock set up that I was going to do

what advantages and disadvantages compared to a sprung set up does it have?

what is the reasoning for a internal spring?

any other comments are welcome! be nice!! noob here! not sure which set up I will like more...

this is my first crawler, I have been into r/c for years but this is all very different than what I have been used too...1/8 truggy 1/10 electric

thanks!

Really depends on your local conditions. For myself, I've found that full droop doesn't work great and am now experimenting with sprung rear/drooped front. Really something you need to play around with.

Biggest advantage of droop is maintaining a low cog. Internal spring helps keep the shock compressed and avoids having the wheel just free fall when it goes off a ledge (i.e., a slower drop rate). Search for droop and you'll find load and loads of discussion on it, but again, what works for one person won't necessarily work for yourself.
