| New ARTR, lots of fun!
My stuff came in today and I immediatly went to work. If I would have had my soldering iron and radio/receiver in the house I could have finished it from the couch. I didn't have to do anything to the chassis to finish it. The only issue I had was finding a good spot to mount the rooster ESC and receiver. I ended up making a couple quick mounts out of some leftovers from other kits. Also the pack I ordered was built to go around the front axle and I wanted it on the chassis, so I ended up making a stick pack out of it. All said and done I only spent and hour putting the ESC, servo and other stuff in the truck. I had a blast messing with it in the holes my husky has dug in the back yard (wich is mostly dirt now) and at a hill on the in-laws property. Said hill is right below a power line righ-of-way so it is all dirt and washed out with a bunch of sandstones sticking out. It was the perfect place to break in the new toy. Now that I've messed with it in stock form it's mod time! Honestly I bought it with the intentions of putting either a jeep body (like my personal 1:1 ) or a bronco (like dads 1:1). It'll be alot of fun trying to keep the performance of the truck and still making it look scale. Thanks to all the other users who posted good things about the ax10. I've owned one other crawler (tlt) and it doesn't even come close to being as fun (or cost effective) out of the box. |

Fine I guess. I really have no idea how else it would be with a standard sub-c pack since I have never used one in this application. I can tell you it will do anything I ask though. It has plenty of torque and it ran for around 1.5-1.75 hours yesterday with no sign of dumping. If I would have thought about it I would have just ordered loose cells though since I ended up rebuilding it.

That's the factory setup. I plan on doing a scale truck so right now it's setup to play.

Throw a set of Axial Red springs on the back, they run about $4.00,or CKRC makes a comparable set for the same price.Quick and easy change that makes a big difference.

I'm going to leave it alone for now and work on the scale aspect 1st. I started the chassis last night but I think I'll scrap it and go with a pre-made ladder style setup. I'm not sure what direction I want to go in yet so I've just been messing with some cheap galvanized sheet metal.

How the hell does one run an 8 cell pack with a Rooster Crawler ESC? I thought the Rooster ESC was maxed out at 8.4 volts or a 7 cell pack. What am I missing here?

Everyone keeps asking me that and I guess I'm just lucky. With that motor and gearing it has a seriously low amp draw so maybe it just doesn't have an issue with it?

Pretty much. Had to make the factory mounts a bit longer but yeah in that vid it was a stock artr with an HPI jeep body. Since I've started using some internal springs I like it alot better. Still debating what route I want to take with a chassis. Xtrail, tube frame, xtrail with partial tube roll cage: etc,etc........
