His standard 35t and 45t motors are some of the most popular. I plan on getting a 45t from him in the near future.

i run a 45 and i like it.it can still crawl but on the 8 cell pack i run now it will definatly get up and go.

like a wise man once said "volt up and gear down"

p.s. three cell lipo on the way=wheel speed!

I switched from a 55T motor running on 9.6 volts to a Holmes Hobbies Handwound 35T running on 11.1V and have not noticed any loss in torque. I have run 55T and 45T motors on the same voltage before and couldn't tell a difference.
The difference between a 55T and 35T may be noticeable but you always want to fine tune with gearing and/or voltage to get the best performance.

Nearly the same. Not enough to notice in a truck. Biggest difference is RPM, 45T is going to be a hair slower in RPM per volt.

I just went from an integy 55t lathe to a handwound 35T. With the same batteries I was pleasantly surprised. Torque actually seems better with the 35T than with the 55T. I did some homebrew bench comparisons, and it appeared that the 35T comes out on top.

Of course wheel speed is faster and battery life is shorter, but not as bad as I was expecting.

There have been multiple threads on the issue, the 35T does produce more torque. The only con about a 35T is it will not be as smooth off idle, it requires more voltage to get the armature turning; most people don't notice it, some people do.

Side by side a 55T will appear to be "smoother" from 0-1000 RPM.

Having a programmable radio helps to put the smoothness back into a 27-45T motor.

The difference you seen was from the quality in construction in the hand wound arm,end bell overall compared to the Integy turds. MUCH better motors.

If you want some of your run time back, gear down a little. If you like the speed it has now,get another pack and carry spares to swap out with. You can then run longer without stopping to charge.

Just for reference...

12t limit on a 3 slot motor. Pullers are 7 slot motors.

You might be able to run it and be O.K. I'd wanna hear it from John first though. I've never tried it,so I don't wanna tell you wrong.

Actually... if you read all the slips of paper in the Rooster box... the new limit on the Rooster is now 27 Turn I think... even though the manual and stuff still says 12.
