A method of disengaging the rear driveline so that the vehicle is only a front wheel drive. It allows for tighter radius turns. Here is a video that will help explain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1K1plBY9ks |

So other than allowing for a tighter TC... what else does a DIG system do? and what use is it within the 2.2 Comps?

When climbing a steep gradient it is useful to keep the rear tires from pushing and toppling the vehicle. With the rear driveline disengaged, you can just pull with the front tires.

A dig can help you pull the front end over 1 way or the other.... A simple dig that just disengages the rear driveshaft works well, I have 1 on my truck... Another dig system allows you to disengage the rear driveshaft or lock the rear wheels... Locking the rear wheels helps in turning extremely tight corners... I only have a 3 channel radio with the third channel being in or out... To use the second type of dig your third channel has to be a 3 position switch in order to freewheel the rear or lock the rear wheels... What type of truck are you looking to use a dig on ? |

Like all the others have stated are uses for DIG. Another good use is to settle your suspension down. Sometimes you will get you rig bound up and that right front tire wants to raise. Hit the freewheel on your dig and magically that tire will come back to the ground. I Love DIG!! It will change the way you drive and will take some time to learn when to use it and not to use it. It can also be your downfall if not used properly. Practice makes perfect!!
