| Question about diff
Hi, I just bought a AX-10 RTR and a few days ago I locked the front diff. I am a little surprise at all I have to do to put the little metal part in the diff. At first I think that I can add and remove the lock on the fly to use my AX10 as a basher or a crawler. Is all of these machines work the same or is it some diff that can be locked on the fly manually or remotely. Is it a truck that is like a real that have 4HI, 4LO and on the fly lockable diff, all that with a multi channel radio. If it was a truck like that that's what I need |

I do not own one, but I believe they are single speed(All Are), and you must take apart the axle to lock/unlock it. As a purpose built crawler I doubt it will do good for bashing.

What you're describing would be a really cool truck. But at the moment, nobody has invented a selectable or automatic locking differential for scale crawlers, so your only choice to choose an open or locked front diff is to disassemble the axle and swap the parts each time. Unless you install a 2-speed transmission, you won't have an analog for a 1:1 rigs' 4HI/4LO feature. For a crawler (which typically has front/rear locked diffs, and therefore has a very poor turning radius), the use of a "dig" transmission with a 3-channel radio can approximate the performance of a selectable front locker. A "dig" transmission has 3 modes: 4WD, free-spool the rear driveline, or lock/brake/stall the rear driveline. In free-spool mode, the crawler is basically front wheel drive, and in locked mode, you can use the front wheels to steer much sharper radius because the truck will tend to pivot around the locked-up rear tires. |

you can buy a new axle so you don't have to completely take it apart you know? there are just 6 screws |

The Tamiya series of High-Lift trucks and the CR01 can lock up the diff by screwing in a pin without disassembling the axle.

Someone on scale4x4 did a TLT mod to make it lockable on the fly by a servo. Also I believe some of those $300 German axles are setup for it.
