Default Fried something...... Need help!

I was out with my W\K this weekend and I think I fried something. I have a wheely king that has been modified a bit. 96/15 gears, and other crawler mods. Everything else is stock like the tranny, motor(27 turn), electrical etc... I was crawling with it and got the motor hot. My quess is the motor does not have enough torque to crawl for any length of time and I think I smoked it. When I tried to run it again after it cooled the only thing that worked was the steering. It would not go forward or reverse. I have a good understanding about how these rc cars work except for the electronics. What do I need to replcae and what do I replace it with? To all you veterans, thanks for helping us "newbies" out.

You either popped the motor or the speed control. Hook the battery directly up to the motor and see if it works. If it works, then your ESC is fried... Get yourself a Rooster Crawler. A lathe motor might be a good idea too. A 27T may be a bit much...
