Default Question about where to start the bend on links..

I've tried the search, but no luck with my question. I'm trying to make some 30 deg HC links for my GC1 with axial axles using the revo 5318 push rod. My question is, do I start the bend at the rod end its self or before the rod end? I tried a set on the rod end its self for just the rear, but it seemed to make my wheel base to long by a .25". Appreciate any suggetions. Thanks

I bent mine buy sticking it in a 10mm box end wrench, I marked them 1.5 inches from the end closest to the axle and slowly bent them till they were even with the driveshaft. You can see them here on the front.
