| What Size Wire
I'm putting together a berg. What gauge wire should I use for the electronics. My chassis is small so I was hoping to get away with 14awg. Is that big enough? Thanks |

Depends on the power applications...14awg should work, but I'd go with Deans 12awg Wet Noodle. Seems to work very well for cawling apps. There's also some new 12awg from Acer...Silver Worm. Looks similar to the Deans: http://www.acerracing.com/catalog/Wire-74-1.html |

OK... I tried 12ga wet noodle. Besides being a pain to solder that fatty onto a deans post... I could not get the wire to fit into my chassis. I could try 13 but I have plenty of 14 from shafty builds. Is the need for fatter wire because of the 2 motors, or is the demand any different than on a shafty? Power will be 3 cell lipo and motors are 45T. Like I said above... I'd like to use the 14... but I don't want to catch the truck on fire . Could I have a meltdown ?? Thanks |

I just went though this with my rig. I used a Tekin FXR that came with 14g wire but I noticed that everyone upgraded to 12g deans ultra or wet noodle wire. So I went with the 12g. I had to slow it down a bit and pay mad attention but I got it done. Harvo, I am sure you can too. I think you will be happier when done. I doubt the rig will burn on account of 14g wire but 12g look so kool |

Use the 14 it is easier to work with. The wire is less than 12 inches at most. At that lenght 14 noodle will carry 150 + amps. You are not going to have a battery in there that will deliver over 50. If you use micro switches for dig!!!!!!!!! 5-10 amps The wire is not going to be your weak link.

I don't think I could fit 2 of the 12 gauge wires next to each other on the tekin posts How did you do that? And could someone show or tell me the best way to solder a 12awg wet noodle to a deans post and make it look decent? |

A nice 16 awg is plenty. Thats all I use and it is more than enough. People forget that crawlers dont pull much current so a guy could get away with 18 awg too.

I have 16g and 18g on lots of stuff. My scalers only pull an average of 1.5-2 amps. (2.5-3hrs on a 5AH pack) So i could run 22g servo wire and not notice anything different. IMO 16< is only suited for go fast RCs. Theres no need for fat wire on crawlers, its just heavy, ugly and takes up space.
