Default need help what to get

sup out there, let me just say i have been in the rc world for some time. I have only been around nitro cars trucks and buggys and now I would like to get into the crawling side of things. First I have no idea as to what is a good starter crawler but also one that I could build onto. I see ones outhere like the "Exceed Mad Crawler", "Venom Creeper" , "Axial AX10". But how would you decide what is good and not a cheap one that will break all the time. Please help a newbie out.

Off all of those trucks you listed id say go with an ax10. the only weak link on this truck are the drive shaft yokes, so get some collars or some RC4WD punisher or MIP drive shafts. And breaking stuff is the nature of the game. If your not braking stuff than your not driving hard enough, and then its not as fun as it could be. Hope this helps

in my opinion, the best thing to do is do some research about the various crawlers listed and then go for the one you like best. most stock crawlers have weak points somewhere from what i've seen so you'll eventually need to replace things or upgrade. like gottorque said, you'll break things and ultimately have to replace them. that's all a part of the hobby. browse around the ax-10, creeper, etc.. sections and good luck on your decision.

I know things will break but what im trying to get out of this is a good stater. I see that the Axial Ax10 Scorpion is a good start but now I know I need a ( speed control, and a 540/550 size motor) at the same time I have no idea what a 540/550 motor is let alone wich ones to get.

I was in the same place you are. Did a bunch of research and asked a bunch of questions. What it came down to was the AX10.

My reasons for choosing it were that it is one of the most common kits available, parts and aftermarket parts are abundant, online and at my LHS, and it's very well thought out and easy to expand upon and upgrade.

I'd say go for the AX10, either the RTR kit for faster speeds and some crawling capability , or the RTC kit for crawling right out of the box. Either of those are great kits, and because they are "generic", meaning some of the parts are a tad inferior (plastic links, etc) you will be upgrading stuff as it breaks anyway.

Good luck!
